The sport we all love is high intensity, all out madness. So why donโ€™t we train like it? ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿป

Research shows long distance training alone can have an impact on sprint & jump performance, two key areas we need in the game. Ditch the 5kms. Train for the sport.

Gaelic Athletic Academy member completes the Malaga Half Marathon ๐Ÿƒ โ˜€๏ธ

Oisin came to me pre season for advice on juggling pitch work & long distance training in prep for the Malaga Half Marathon ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿป

We had already been consistent with strength training for many months, alongside speed, power, agility, jump & conditioning so adding in work on the tarmac was never going to be an issue.

Wave training with higher loaded days combined with recovery days, allowed us to maximise our chances of getting race day right. The pitch training with intervals on the track & a longer run at the weekend & 1-2 strength sessions made sure that Oisin went into the race fully confident of hitting his goal โœ”๏ธ

Players goals can change each season & Oisin is a prime example that no matter the goal, we can make it work.

If you need a coach who has done many half marathons, a full marathon & HYROXโ€™s alongside playing the sport, then never hesitate to each out ๐Ÿ‘‹

3 sets x 4 runs at your desired distance. 60 seconds on : 2 minutes off โœ”๏ธ Take 3 mins rest between sets! Iโ€™d say plenty of players hitting these distances during the prep for league campaigns!

I could never run a successful online business alongside working with multiple Gaelic Football teams if I never was on the floor!
