We're heading toward tomorrow's Full Moon with higher predicted tides and plenty of wind influencing conditions on the river.

Yesterday at TBC, strong north winds produced unusually rough, choppy water — a good reminder that published tide predictions tell only part of the story.

Today's midday Tomoka Basin high is predicted at 1.25 ft, with Saturday's afternoon high climbing a little higher to 1.31 ft. 🌊🌕

We're also within Florida's East Coast King Tide window, so we'll be keeping an eye on what the river actually does here at TBC.

We're coming off the 7:10 AM low with incoming water building through the morning toward the 12:34 PM high.

That moving water can create opportunities around docks, pilings, creek mouths, oyster structure and mangrove edges.

But today the WIND still gets the final vote. 💨🎣

North winds remain strong and gusty, so pay attention to actual conditions where you're fishing and look for protected water if the river stays rough.

Good morning from the Tomoka! 🌊🌴

Looks like somebody found themselves a pretty good fishing spot this morning. 😉🎣

Today's Wildlife Wednesday visitor is a GREAT BLUE HERON, right at home on the docks of the Tomoka.

Great Blue Herons are patient hunters. You'll often see them standing almost perfectly still along docks, shorelines and shallow water, watching for fish and other small prey — and then striking FAST when an opportunity appears.

With mangroves and the river just steps away, this one apparently decided Dock 24 was worth checking out. 😂🐟

Sometimes the best part of a day on the Tomoka isn't what you catch.

It's who you share the fishing spot with. 💙

Today's Fishing Focus is all about WORKING THE STRUCTURE.

Mangrove edges, docks, pilings and oyster areas provide cover for shrimp, crabs and small baitfish — and where there's food, there's usually something looking for it. 😉

And as we head toward cooler-weather fishing, keep an eye out for SHEEPSHEAD! Those distinctive black-and-white stripes are a familiar sight around docks, pilings, oyster areas and other hard structure.

That makes the early outgoing water and later incoming tide the more interesting windows to watch today. With lighter NE wind around 5–10 knots, conditions should be more manageable on the river, although keep an eye on the sky with a thunderstorm possible this afternoon. ⚡🎣
