Today, we hold a special place in our thoughts for Stephen Philip Morris, a resident of our own Ormond Beach community who tragically lost his life at the World Trade Center twenty-five years ago. By lowering our flags today, we send a visible, unified message up and down Granada Boulevard, across A1A, and along US-1:We remember the nearly 3,000 innocent lives lost in New York, Pennsylvania, and Washington D.C.We honor the fearless firefighters, police officers, and civilian heroes who ran toward the danger without hesitation.We stand alongside the families, neighbors, and friends who still feel the profound ache of an empty seat at their tables.We reflect on the enduring American spirit and resilience that binds us together through our darkest hours.Flag Etiquette Reminder for Today:If your business flies a flag on a stationary flagpole, proper etiquette dictates that you hoist it briskly to the very peak for an instant this morning, and then solemnly lower it to the half-staff position. When closing up shop this evening, please remember to raise the flag back to the peak one last time before bringing it down for the night. Ormond Beach has always been a community that takes care of its own and fiercely loves this country. Let’s make sure our local storefronts and skylines reflect that deep respect today on Patriot Day.
