Congratulations to Jalen. This week was his first ever hunt. He showed more patience and discipline than a lot of seasoned hunters I’ve had in camp. Did everything right and was rewarded.

Monday update. Thank you to everyone that shared our post and reached out. We have put this last minute hunt together pending the tag transfer with the state from the donating family. You are all amazing!!

To all my fellow Maine Guides. I have a short notice opportunity to put a moose hunt together for a disabled Veteran in zone 1 for the first Bull week on a donated tag. I am stretched a little thin with guiding hunts on the other 2 weeks. I want this to be a perfect dream hunt for a Veteran. I honestly can’t get boots on the ground to scout as I’m finishing some Veteran bear hunts. Bear down!

The good with the bad. The hunter and I tracked the bear for 50 yards on our hands and knees. I decided it was best to back out and call my friend Lindsay and her dog Aldo. She was on another track and would get to us after. After ended up being 2 AM this morning. After a half mile of very, very marginal blood, it was determined that the bear would live with a muscular wound no organ or bone damage. having the ability to use blood tracking dogs and Lindsay‘s expertise does a great service to the hunting community. I fully expect to get a picture of that bear back on the bait before the end of the season.
