No OOPS match tomorrow.

Just not enough people to be worth getting together for a match. Next match is normally in two weeks, but we can have a match about anytime enough shooters want to have a match day.

OOPS Match results from today.

The weather on top of Mt. OOPS was perfect for a match today. Thanks to everyone who came out to have some fun shooting some excellent stages. Thanks for all the help in setting up the stages and cleaning up afterwards. When everyone pitches in, it makes it more fun for all of us.

Thanks again to Brandon Hildreth for staying after the match and cutting down more trees around the big shed. Those trees have been taking over the shed for 35 years or more. Some were 20 feet tall. He would cut them down and I would drag them using a strap to the burn pile with my pickup at the entrance of the range. Pretty handy to have it there. Weird thing, Brandon was singing “Oh I’m a lumberjack and I am okay, I sleep all night and I work all day…” all the time he was chain sawing the trees down.

Next regularly scheduled match in on September 13th, but we can have a match almost any Sunday if there are enough people wanting to shoot. Usually if we have a minimum of five or six shooters we can have a match. Just let me know if you want to use the range.

I have heard from enough shooters that are coming tomorrow to go ahead and have a OOPS USPSA pistol match tomorrow morning. The gate will be open at 8 am for the stage building. Bring ideas for stages or things you would like to shoot tomorrow.

OOPS Pistol Match Tomorrow??

Tomorrow morning is the regularly scheduled second Sunday OOPS pistol match in Osceola (for only the last 44 years). That is if there are enough shooters that want to come out and shoot. This time of year is always on the light side because people have a lot going on. The Iowa State Fair is also sill open tomorrow. If enough people want to shoot a match tomorrow morning, we will have one. Let me know soon!

This month also has five Sundays so we could move the match to next Sunday morning if that works better for your schedule. Again, let me know! Doesn’t make much difference to me since I live about two miles from the range. We can also shoot both Sundays if enough shooters want to.

OOPS Match Results from this morning.

It was a great day for a match, the weather was partly cloudy with very little wind. It always amazes me how the shooters build elaborate, challenging stages, even when there are very few shooters. This morning was no exception. Thanks everyone for building great stages and cleaning up afterwards.

The best part of the morning was when Brandon Hildreth stayed after the match and cut down the big evergreen trees around the old caterpillar shed. They have been out of control for a couple of decades. He cut them down and I dragged the trees out to the tree burn pile with my pickup.

The next regularly scheduled OOPS Pistol Match is on the 23rd of this month. There are five Sundays this month so we could have a match on any of those Sundays if enough people want to come and shoot a match.

No OOPS match tomorrow, just not enough people to set up stages to be worth the drive for them. Other matches, things to do at home, and the heat are keeping them home.

We can shoot practically any Sunday in Osceola if you want. Just find enough shooters to be worth me getting out of bed for. We can try next Sunday if you want, or wait till the regularly scheduled, second Sunday match on August 9th. Doesn’t make much difference to me as I live about 2 miles from the range. I hate to see people drive an hour and only three or four people show up. But they were some of the best matches we have had.  You shoot more often, can talk to each other a lot more, etc.

Are there enough shooters out there wanting to shoot an OOPS match this Sunday morning?? Let me know if you want to come and shoot. I need at least a handful of shooters to have a good match. This time of year the numbers are usually down because people are busy with other things and the heat doesn’t help either.

What a good match we had today! We had some very challenging and somewhat difficult stages that were a blast to shoot. The weather was nice as well. Thanks to everyone who came to shoot! Thanks to everyone for pitching in to build the stages and tear down too.

OOPS Pistol Match Tomorrow Morning!

The weather looks great for a match tomorrow morning. Temps in the high 60’s to middle 70’s at match time. Let me know if you are coming in case only a few people show up. Even if only three people show up I will put on a match (or just a good practice session for those who show up). Let me know publically or privately, just so I can cancel the match if no one is planning on coming. I don’t want to have someone drive an hour each way to not have a match for them. RSVP please!

Gate is open at 8 am to start building stages. Be there to help build the stages you would like to shoot on.
