What a way to end a great 2022 hunting season—a New Year’s Day grouse!!
Gus has had a great fall!! He has had much success pointing woodcock and grouse, was highly successful pointing pheasants on public land in South Dakota, welcomed a female puppy to his pack AND completed his first stint as a STUD! More updates and pictures on all his adventures to come soon!!

Hi! As Gus (left) and his mom Mabel get excited about another season of woodcock banding I thought I’d share this photo from a Great day last fall!!
PS>Gus is still looking for a girlfriend 🤪🤔‼️

This is Gus! If you are looking to add a strong hunting line to your litters, he is available for stud. He was bred with the express purpose of carrying both his sire and dam's hunting lineage to new levels. Please contact us if you are interested.

Gus and his companion had a very successful opening day of woodcock season! These are all they could keep, but 7 more were pointed! (PS-The photo editor is still learning-if you click on the picture you will actually see what is sitting on the bumper! LOL)

September 15th--The dogs were waiting "patiently" to get out for a "walk with a gun"!! They were successful, pointing 7 woodcock!! However, they were disappointed by the lack of shooting. It is hard on them when it is "only" Grouse season!!! Tomorrow will, hopefully, make up for it :-)

Gus, patiently resting and waiting...only two more days until Opening Day!!
There is an old saying about Life, Lemons and Lemonade. We have at least one inquiry each week about puppies. (Life)
I respond that Mabel is too old (8 years), and she only gave us 2 boys in her last litter. (Lemons)
So…
We kept Gus! He pointed his first woodcock at 4 months and may be the best hunting WPG we have ever had (and that’s saying a lot!!). He turned 2 in June, had his OFA hip check come back good and has had his DNA sample sent to NAVDA. He is now ready to be a STUD. (Lemonade!)
If you are interested in learning about Gus’s STUD service please contact us at 989-305-2188 or [email protected]!
We, like all of us in the U.S., have been staying at home--and BOY DO OUR DOGS LOVE IT!!! We have been taking them for daily long walks in the woods and Gus, our almost 2 year old male, has had ample opportunity to point woodcock and grouse this spring! I am still learning how to be a wildlife/hunting photographer, but I have been snapping pictures as much as possible!!
