The Oskaloosa XC Team was in action tonight at the Van Buren Invitational.

"I was happy with how we competed. Our original meet was cancelled and we were fortunate to get into this meet. I felt the team handled the change well, especially on a tough and challenging course."

Lane Smith won the boys race in 17:04. "Lane took the lead right away and then dropped the field in the middle. He had a nice race. Kellen Kauzlarich had a really great race for us as well that helped solidify 2nd place." The boys finished in 2nd behind Fairfield.

The girls finished in 3rd place. "Olivia Doll came up huge for us with a massive season best. Really proud of her for how she competed. Hazel and Payton were their consistent selves and Mia gutted out another good race."

The Indians are in action next week on Monday at Chariton

MS XC

With Knoxville canceling their meet due to course conditions the team traveled to Van Buren for a meet on Tuesday night. The course measured 2.2 miles so this will be the longest race and probably the most challenging course we will run this season with multiple trail hills throughout the race route. Team scores had not been compiled when the meet was over.

Chessa San raced to a second place finish, Alaina Burgey finished 9th, Lydia Neltand 13th, Lauryn Koehler 14th and Brielle Boender 15th place finish.

The boys side the team packed it up placing 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th for a fantastic score of 25 points. Kinnich Reisetter led the way with Douglas Lappin right behind. Ryan Comfort, Tayven Wyatt and Jackson McHawes rounded out the scoring runners.

All of the runners push hard on this challenging course. The Luck's are very proud of the effort the kids are showing both at meets and at practice.

The team is back in action next Monday night at Chariton. The race will be held at Northwest Park.

8th Grade Volleyball

The B team played Osky Christian last night in a cross-town showdown at home. They lost the first two games by scores of 17-25 and 17-25 but fought hard to take the next two, 25-19 and 25-18. I'm proud of how the girls bounced back after a tough loss in Ottumwa! They played a much more balanced match.

Caitlyn Parker led all stats with five aces and three kills. Naomi VandeKrol was right behind with four aces and two kills. Brielle Roy-Harrison contributed four aces and three digs. She was hustling all over the court! Elizabeth Chavez gave us three aces and two kills, and Averi Sparks had an ace and two kills. Rounding off the list were Rye Rummans with an ace and Avery Webb with a kill. Every single player contributed in some way, statistically!

We travel to Norwalk tonight for our longest road trip of the year.

Last Thursday, the 7th grade volleyball team hosted Ottumwa for an exciting night of competition. Three out of our four teams came out on top, with each team showing great effort, teamwork, and determination.

🌟A1 came out strong with a 25–21 first-set win. Paisley Doud led the offense with three kills and two aces, while Willow Hahn-Lefler and Alivia Johnson each added an ace. Ottumwa took the second set 25–19, despite strong serving from Osky, including three aces from Willow and two from Emelia Stewart. That sent the girls to a deciding third set, where they battled point-for-point before falling just short, 13–15. Paisley added another kill, while Aubrey Vance recorded two aces.

🌟A2 dropped their opening set 17–25 but came back READY TO COMPETE! They dominated the second set 25–14 behind NINE ace serves! Ava Kenney recorded three, while Addi Sille, Loryce Lammers, and Aurora Cramer each added two. With the match on the line, A2 kept the momentum rolling and took the deciding set 15–10! Loryce added three more aces and Addi recorded two to help seal the WIN! Two three-set battles, a HUGE response from A2, and another night of growth for Osky Volleyball! These girls continue to compete, fight, and get better every time they step on the court!

🌟B1 had a strong showing, winning both sets 21–12 and 21–10. Gabby Larson was incredible on defense, making several key digs and passes to keep the team in system. Khloee Watts came through with a six-point serving run to help seal the first-set victory. In the second set, everything seemed to click for the girls. Their communication was top-notch, and they played with confidence and energy from start to finish. Megan Lobe's serving helped seal the win and complete a great night for B1!

🌟B2 battled through a great three-set match to come out on top. They took the first set 21–18 before dropping the second set 18–21. The girls came back strong in the deciding third set, winning 15–8 to secure the victory. Kailani Norrish came through with an incredible serve to seal the overall winβ€”it was her best serve of the season! Leah Bock also put together an impressive serving run that the Ottumwa defense simply could not stop. The girls showed great resilience and teamwork when it mattered most.

Tomorrow 9/29 the girls will be HOME against Norwalk!

Great job, Osky! 🏐
