Simley Lacrosse

Congratulations to the Spartans lacrosse team on a win in their final home game. Evan McNally’s overtime goal lifted Simley to a 10-9 defeat of Tartan on Senior Night. It was his second goal of the game. Peter Gorman had three goals, while Jacob Hageman and Jakob Myers also scored twice. The Spartans’ next game is Friday when they visit Mahtomedi.

The on-field results were a letdown, but the Spartans had a great trip to Duluth and even got to explore Canal Park and Lake Superior before their game with the Wolfpack.

Come to Cub Foods in West St. Paul this afternoon to have the Spartans bag your holiday weekend groceries.

Congrats to Spartans senior captain Jakob Myers, playing for Team West in the Captains Cup Tournament on Saturday. He represented Simley well, scoring a goal in their first game.

Three Spartans and two Simley coaches heading home from Kansas City as Fountain City Lax Bash Champions with the Minnesota Lacrosse Club. Congrats Jakob Myers, Andrew Sivertson, Jimmy Nguyen, Coach Luke and Coach Chris.

At Tuesday night's year-end banquet, Peter Gorman and Jakob Myers were named Spartans captains for the 2018 season.

The Simley Lacrosse team's best-ever season came up an end on Friday in a thrilling 11-10 playoff loss at St. Thomas Academy. The Spartans trailed 11-5 in the fourth quarter before scoring five unanswered goals, falling just short of an amazing comeback. They finish the season with an 8-6 record, which is tops in school history.

After finishing the regular season with an 8-5 record, the Simley lacrosse team has been seeded fifth in its section and opens the playoffs on Friday evening, 6p at St. Thomas Academy.
