Dear Eastern League Parents and Coaches,
Due to the National Weather Service Heat Advisory, all outdoor Eastern League games and practices scheduled for September 16, 17, 18, and 19 have been canceled. This includes the movie night scheduled for 9/19. We are attempting to reschedule all events, but may be required to continue the season into early November.
Eastern League proposed several heat mitigation strategies, including additional water breaks, increased shade opportunities, and other safety measures. We also recognize that projected heat index values during some morning and evening time slots appear to be within acceptable ranges.
However, this decision was made by the City of Huntsville Parks and Recreation Division, which declined mitigation options and elected to cancel all outdoor activities during the advisory period.
