Hydration is a vital key to training. This athlete wanted to do a simple Power Z-2 Enduro spin. Due to improper hydration, cardiac drift occurred. Power stayed the same the entire workout and heart rate was in direct correlation until about minute 18. Heart rate started to climb. When an athletes blood starts to thicken, due to dehydration, the heart must compensate for the work by working harder to pump the thickened blood. Next time you decide to go on a hot ride make sure you are properly hydrated by the color of your urine. Don't let warm days dictate your workouts, workouts can be very successful with proper hydration. YET BE VERY CAUTIOUS WHEN HEAT INDEX IS OVER 100. BE SMART AND BE REAL.

Your cardiovascular system can improve at a faster rate than your muscles, tendons, bones, ligaments and facia can tolerate. This is the reason so many runners get injured. Your plan MUST respect this and allow time for the musculoskeletal system to "catch up" and become more durable. You must build a chassis so strong that the engine won't break it.
