OWENSBORO, KY. — Windy Hollow Dragway closed out their 2026 racing season on Saturday, October 17th as they hosted the Jr Royal, the largest Junior Dragster race in the area.

Young drivers from across the state battled for $1,000 to win along with a crown, cape and other royal paraphernalia.

In the finals, it was Owensboro’s Slade Welborn defeating Bowling Green’s Camden Grayson for the title of King of the Juniors.

Welborn, 8, is in his first month of competitive racing following in the footsteps of his dad, Darren Welborn who also raced in Junior Dragsters and now competes in the weekly bracket racing program at Windy Hollow Dragway.

Elizabethtown’s Luke Wiseman took the win in the final pro race of the season with Michael Crass of Murray as runner-up.

In the Sportsman division, Eastview’s Diane Ratliff took Thunderstruck to the winner’s circle followed by Luke Wiseman.

Henderson’s Jake Tanaka took home the win in Super Pro with Luke Wiseman as runner-up.

Greenville’s Jason Haley was the winner in Trophy.
