🥋 Summer Gup & Dan Promotion — September 23rd! 🥋

NO CLASS WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 23RD.

We’re excited to celebrate the next big step for our students at Owosso Martial Arts!

Join us on Wednesday, September 23rd at 5:15 PM for our Summer Gup Promotion, including a special Dan Promotion as students advance into the black belt ranks.

Family, friends, and fellow students are all invited to come support everyone who has been working hard toward this moment. These promotions are about much more than a new belt — they represent months and years of discipline, perseverance, growth, and commitment.

After the promotion, we’ll head to Jade Buffet at 6:30 PM to celebrate together!

🌟 September Student of the Month: Kennason! 🌟

We’re excited to recognize Kennason as our September Student of the Month! 🥋💛

Kennason joined our Lil Ninjas program at the beginning of the summer, and she has quickly become such a fun part of the dojang. She comes into class ready to learn, take on new challenges, and — most importantly — do it all with a smile.

When we asked Kennason what her favorite thing about karate was, her answer was pretty simple:

“EVERYTHING!” 😄

That kind of enthusiasm is exactly what Lil Ninjas is all about: building confidence, learning new skills, having fun, and being excited to come back for the next class.

Kennason is currently a Lil Ninja Blue Belt, and we can’t wait to see where her karate journey takes her next!

🥋🍂 THE FALL TOURNAMENT IS COMING! 🍂🥋

The 2026 Michigan Fall Championship is right around the corner! On Saturday, October 17, students from across the Michigan Region will come together to compete, grow, and believe in themselves.

Tournament events include:

🥋 Forms for all ages and ranks
🥊 Sparring
🚩 Flag Sparring
💥 Breaking
⚔️ Weapons
🥷 Lil Ninja events
🏆 Masters competing in all events

Flag Sparring is available to students of all ages below green belt who do not yet have sparring gear. This gives newer competitors an exciting opportunity to participate and experience tournament competition!

🎉 Opening Ceremony begins at 9:00 AM
📅 Registration and tournament-shirt deadline: October 8 at 5:00 PM

🥋 KARATE IS COMING TO OWOSSO & CORUNNA SCHOOLS!

Owosso Martial Arts is excited to partner with the Community Education departments at both Owosso Public Schools and Corunna Public Schools for two special six-week introductory karate programs!

Designed for boys and girls in grades 1–6, these beginner-friendly classes will introduce students to traditional martial arts while helping them develop:

🎯 Focus
💪 Confidence
🥋 Discipline
🛡️ Self-defense skills

Even better—parents may participate alongside their children for FREE! It is a wonderful opportunity to learn, grow, and make memories together.

📍 OWOSSO PROGRAM
Mondays from 4:30–5:15 PM
September 21–October 26
Bryant Elementary Cafeteria
Register through Owosso Public Schools Community Education: (989) 729-5682
Pre-registration is required at least five days before the first class.

📍 CORUNNA PROGRAM
Wednesdays from 4:00–4:45 PM
September 23–October 28
Elsa Meyer Elementary Gymnasium

Payment is due before classes begin.

💵 Cost: $65 per participating child

Both programs will conclude with a special Celebration and Open House on Friday, October 30, at Owosso Martial Arts!

Space may be limited, so contact your local Community Education department to reserve your child’s place. We cannot wait to share the benefits—and the fun—of traditional martial arts with more families throughout Owosso and Corunna!

Board breaking isn’t really about the board. It’s about learning to focus, commit, trust your technique, and follow through—even when something in front of you looks intimidating.

And that little smile afterward? That’s confidence being built in real time. 💪

Every class gives our students another chance to discover what they’re capable of.

Happy Labor Day from Owosso Martial Arts! 🇺🇸

A quick reminder that **there are no classes today, Monday, September 7, in celebration of Labor Day.**

Today is a chance to recognize the people who work hard every day to build our families, businesses, communities, and futures.

That same lesson carries onto the training floor. Progress in martial arts does not happen overnight. It is built through repetition, discipline, patience, and the willingness to keep showing up.

Enjoy the day with your family, get some rest, and we’ll see everyone back on the mat soon!
