I can’t tell you how grateful I am that Wonder Walks is being hosted by Camp Lake Stephens this semester, while our precious trails are closed. We’ve had terrific adventures in our new landscape - I’ll be posting pictures soon! I WISH I could have gotten to go to camp there when I was young. They have everything a kid could want - it’s a special place. Anna and Russ and the staff who have welcomed me have been so kind and generous. Check out this pop-up happening to learn more and sign your kiddos up for camp this year!!

I can’t believe this was our first trip to Tishomingo. Although I was wracked with a small dose of Hudson Valley nostalgia, the rocks were incredible and camping with our Girl Scout troop was super fantastic.

I think I’ve taken it too far. The garden is eating the house :)

Check out this crazy creature we found a few weeks ago. SEEK says it’s red rasberry slime mold (perfect name).

It’s Grandma Lolie’s Birthday! She volunteers at an amazing food bank that helps hundreds of families in her community (Monroe, NY). The supplies have all but stopped and the shelves are all but empty (usda has cut $500 million in food bank funding). She’s very concerned about these families not having enough food to eat literally by next week. My amazing sister has organized this fundraiser. I’m late, it’s happening this weekend! But if you want to make a donation, just message me!! Thank you!

Have I told you about the root witch? She keeps her root mouth open to catch treats from the trails. We keep her well fed in mushrooms and gumballs and lichen and sticks (so she doesn’t eat anything else💀!). She’s gotten so used to the kids now, she lets them climb up on her and she even lets them clean her root teeth, occasionally. One of my groups came up with a story about her and Grandma Alba (an old, old oak tree we visit with a lot). Over the years, they’ve developed it in many ways and this year, they wrote a play about them and some other characters from our adventures. They will be performing it this weekend for their friends, family and fellow Wonder Walkers! My work is so profoundly fulfilling, I’m incredibly grateful for these kids and this special place.
