Begin in a wide canyon, just inland from the Pacific Ocean in Malibu and enjoy an easy creekside stroll to interesting ruins and a small waterfall. Roberts Ranch House, also called the Tropical Terrace, stood in harmony with the canyon landscape until wildfire damaged the brick houses in 1982. Explore the structures that remain, which are now preserved by the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area. Though dogs can go no farther than the ruins, two-legged visitors can continue on a path to a short waterfall in Solstice Canyon Creek and a relaxing collection of rocky pools.
