Shooting Five Stand at St. Louis S***t & Trap
Enjoy shooting Sporting Clays but would want more of a social aspect as opposed to walking alone or in a small group? Then Five Stand is just what you are looking for. Five Stand, in essence, is shooting 50 birds from eight traps through five windows all while socializing with members and visitors to St. Louis S***t & Trap.
Every Thursday afternoon, April through October, the Five Stand group at St. Louis S***t and Trap gathers under the smaller of our two pavilions (over the bridge) starting at three PM and shoots until dark. Shooting in groups of five, off a predetermined menu, everyone shoots the same 50 birds regardless of whether you shoot in the first group of the evening or the last, so scores are comparable. The first bird presented is always a single, the second set of birds is always a ‘report pair’ and the third set of birds is always a true pair, for a total of five birds off a potential of eight traps. Repeat ten times, alternating the menu at each window and you have shot 50 birds. That is when the true socializing begins.
The charge for the entire night is thirty dollars and for that amount you get: 1.) fifty birds, 2.) dinner and 3.) a chance to win either first or second place in the shooters pool. Our pooling method combines the top half of the evening’s shooters with the bottom half through random playing card selection. This method guarantees the top shooter will not automatically win anything and the lowest scored shooter has just as much of a chance of winning as anyone else as part of a paired score. You merely need to bring 50 shells and your own favorite beverage. Our experienced shooters are always willing to help guests and shooters new to Five Stand.
After all the shooters have competed and dinner served compliments of our Master Chef we open the bar. (Shooters cannot drink alcoholic beverages until completing their shooting for the night.) Then we set the bonfire ablaze and sit around the fire pit talking about hunting, fishing and shooting with fellow club members and guests until you are ready to leave or until the club closes at nine PM.
Five Stand is a great way to sharpen your shooting skills and brings members and guests together in a fun, friendly atmosphere. Why not try it next Thursday, you are sure to like it.
Mark your calendars! Our first registered S***t event is coming up!

Club Delayed Opening
To make the facility safe for shooting due to the icy conditions, the club will not open until 12 noon on Saturday January 2, 2021. We apologize for any inconvenience.
The 2020 St. Louis Open registered s***t event was held at St. Louis S***t & Trap Club on Saturday October 24 and Sunday the 25th. The two day, weekend, format allowed for those shooters unable to shoot on Friday, due to work or travel, to attend and shoot in all five events.
As always, Club Manager John, (JB) Bauer and his staff, had the club grounds in immaculate condition and the targets flying through the center of the hoops.
Event director, Craig Maravich, along with Head Referee, Roger Spann, and his group of referees kept things moving smoothly and without delay.
It was hard to believe that only two days prior to the event temperatures were a balmy 80 degrees with full sunshine. In spite of chilly temperatures and an overcast windy morning on Saturday, 19 shooters shot 12 ga, 14 shooters 20 ga and 13 shooters shot doubles.
The weather Sunday was much the same, but without the wind, and the shooters finished the event with 14 shooting 28 ga and 12 shooting the .410.
St. Louis S***t & Trap is proud to have several youth groups from the area practice regularly at our club and several of these young shooters were in attendance with their parents.
HOA went to Mark Presnell with Keven Hess runner up and Donald Beard taking 3rd. For full results go to mys***t.com.

There were those who shot “lights out,” and those who shot their average and a few like your “faithful correspondent,” who did not fare so well. But at the end of the day, as I sat in the Adirondack admiring the fall colors and sipping a libation accompanied by a good cigar, it became abundantly clear that it’s well worth the price of admission.

STLS&T family and friends,
As we approach the end of the mandatory stay at home order, the Board of Directors and staff at St. Louis S***t & Trap Club are preparing to welcome its members back. In doing so, we are preparing guidelines based upon the recommendations of the federal, state, and local governments and the health care community, regarding preventing the spread of the COVID 19 virus.
As released today, the lifting of the Stay at Home order in St. Louis County will occur on May 18th. This means we will reopen for business on Wednesday May 20th. We fully expect to be inundated by members wishing to shoot, because of this, we plan on limiting the facility to members only, to ensure members are being properly served.
In preparation of re-opening, we all recognize the difficulties presented in keeping our staff healthy, so that the club can continue to operate under this new normal. We have no doubt our members will do what is necessary to ensure the safe operation of the club and ask that all members accept the responsibility and use common sense to keep us all safe.
While we navigate this new normal, we ask all members to follow the guidelines below, to allow us accommodate everyone wishing to come shoot. Please be assured, these guidelines may change daily as we learn how to best navigate the new rules and accommodate our members.
