I hear parents say they just want their child
To have more confidence in themselves. I get it. I did too! Building confidence takes time. It’s not something that happens over night. They’ll doubt themselves over and over. Allowing them to quit when it gets hard does nothing for their confidence and self esteem. Quitting isn’t an option just because something is hard. Teach them that’s motivation for working harder.

We don’t care so much about your win as much as we care about the attitude you have when you win or when you lose. Teaching students that there is always a winner, and always a loser, is a huge life lesson in a world full of participation trophies. It’s ok to be upset when we lose. It’s not ok to throw their gloves or helmet, get mouthy with officials and be disrespectful. Learning to lose with dignity is a huge part in what we teach. We love when we win, like everyone else. But it’s how we act when we lose that determines character.
