2021 - 2023
By far the hardest and most stressful period of my life. Marked by grief, loss, an EF4 tornado, 4 surgeries, a broke foot after falling down the stairs, a business to run and in the throes of menopause (that's a different article for a later date 🤪)
But on the other side of that mountain I can see the strength built from enduring that period of time.

I filled two time slots that became available last month. Both new clients said they found me on Facebook, leading me to address the fact my dwindling social media presence needs an updating.

My name is Marissa and I'm the owner of Clean Slate Performance. I've lived a large portion of my life inside a gym, been a personal trainer since 2008. I did a short stint in CrossFit as a head coach and manager before leaving in 2017 because I saw a growing segment of the population that wanted help, but didn't know where to begin. When social media is a human highlight reel of young, ultra fit people doing intense things, I wanted to focus on what my strong suit as a coach is..simplifying the process to show that what social media often won't tell you-fitness doesn't have to look a specific way, a good coach will tailor it to your age, your goals and your abilities.

I believe in utilizing compound exercises that focus on muscle endurance and range of motion-then strength.
I personally don't program a ton of high impact jumping/lunging type movements because of the stress on the joints (and because burpees still suck😝) and I can get your heart rate up without them.

If you are the "I just need you to motivate me" type person, I'm probably not the person for you, and that's okay. If you walk in the door ready to work, we can get somewhere.

Any of my clients will attest to the fact, I'm not here to count your reps (because I'm a squirrel) You spend 8-10 hours a day counting and see if you don't occasionally get off track. 😂

I currently don't have any openings, but I still give free 15:00 consultations and will be glad to put you on my waitlist.

My favorite workouts combine elements of functional fitness, Olympic lifting, traditional strength and conditioning, yoga and aesthetic work.
