No matter which airport you land at, the drive to Lucky 7 Ranch for the Bryce Canyon Ultras is half the fun. We mapped the best red rock road trip from all four gateways, so you can turn your travel days into a full desert adventure.

This is what the views cost.
Hardpacked dirt you can actually run. Sandy jeep trail you can sort of run. Then there’s the deep washes, and those you just negotiate as best as you can.

You’ll dump out your shoes. A mile later you’ll do it again.
Then you come up out of a wash and there’s slot canyons. Horseshoe Bend. You finish on the Page Rim Trail with views of Lake Powell, and Navajo Canyon.

Antelope Canyon Ultras. March 6 and 7, 2027. 50 mile, 55K, 30K, half marathon.

Consider this your last call. Bryce Canyon Ultras is just over 1 week away.

If you have been sitting on this one here is what that waiting costs you. A start line at historic Lucky 7 Ranch. Miles of winding singletrack across the Paunsaugunt Plateau, through pine forest, canyon and the hoodoos, tall fantastical rock spires standing where thousands of winters of freezing and thawing wore everything else away.

The 50K, 60K, 50 Mile, and 100 Mile take you down into it. These are the courses where you run for miles with hoodoos standing on both sides of you, not scenery off in the distance but the thing you are moving through. The 50 Mile collects the highlights of the entire course. The 100 Mile runs it twice, which means you see every section of it under two completely different skies, and anyone who has watched these formations at first light and again at dusk will tell you it is not the same rock.

The 30K and the Half Marathon are the introduction. The hoodoos sit out on the horizon rather than overhead, and the running is the point: real trail, big country, and the same plateau under your feet. The 30K climbs to the top of it, and the view from up there takes in most of what the longer courses spend all day inside.

Not racing this year? We still need people out there.
Volunteers work a shift and earn Aravaipa race credit toward a future event, and everyone who volunteers camps at Lucky 7 Ranch for free.
Take an aid station captain shift and it gets considerably better. Open to close, all 24 hours of it (sign up for 3 shifts) and you earn free entry to any Aravaipa event. Waitlisted races included. Cocodona is the only one it does not cover.

Yes, we have a favorite rock. No, we won’t explain it. Our camera roll is 90% desert sandstone and the other 10% is cactus. We own more trail shoes than dress shoes and zero regrets.

If at least three of these slides called you out personally, the trail is already yours. 👉

Tag the friend who drags you out there (or the one you drag).

Four races. Four kinds of hard.

Ultra Adventures runs the Grand Circle, southern Utah into northern Arizona. Hoodoos and high plateau above Bryce. Slot canyons and slickrock outside Page. Sandstone mesas and rim trails above the Virgin River at Zion. And the Tushars, which spends most of its miles above 9,500 feet.
