We want to hear from you!

Clear and open communication helps ensure that PSDA families have access to accurate information. It also helps us understand concerns, learn from your feedback, and continue strengthening our programs and organization.

We now have a Parent Questions, Concerns & Feedback form available on our website. You may include your contact information if you would like a direct response, or submit the form anonymously.

Anonymous questions may be addressed in a future newsletter or social media Q&A without sharing any identifying information. If one person has a question or concern, there is a good chance other families are wondering the same thing!

Part of what makes PSDA unique is that we don’t only teach students how to dance, we create pathways for them to become leaders and empower them with skills they can use to financially support themselves.

Pictured are our two current Student Teachers, Avonlea Thomas and Faith Lee. Both have met the program criteria and received board approval to advance into this role.

Our structured Student Teacher Pathway includes experiences such as class assisting, observing a variety of classes and instructors, working with a staff mentor, developing lesson plans, and gaining hands-on teaching experience with supervision and feedback.

This pathway is a direct reflection of our nonprofit mission. We want to empower the youth in our studio to pursue meaningful leadership opportunities while developing confidence, responsibility, communication skills, and other life skills they can carry beyond the studio and use throughout adulthood.

We hope young leaders that pursue leadership opportunities through our studio will someday share their knowledge and love of dance—whether they continue teaching at PSDA or bring their skills to studios wherever life takes them.

This is how dance becomes more than movement. It becomes a pathway to leadership and career-building life skills. 💙

✨ **Meet Miss Dee!** ✨

Ballet is an integral part of dance training, building the technique, strength, alignment, and discipline that carry into so many other styles. 🩰

And there’s a new opportunity to add more ballet to your dancer’s week! **Miss Dee’s Saturday Ballet class is now open to beginner ballet students ages 9+**, giving more dancers the chance to build a strong ballet foundation while learning from her decades of experience.

Classes can be added through **October 15**.

It’s the FINAL DAY! ❤️💛💙

We are just $465 away from our $6,000 Colorado Youth Sports Giving Day goal! Giving remains open until midnight tonight, and there is still time to help us close that final gap.

Donations made before the campaign ends can still benefit from the Giving Day incentive funds, helping supercharge every dollar given to PSDA.

As we make this final push, we also want to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who has donated, shared, and supported us throughout this campaign. Thank you for recognizing dance as a sport worth supporting.

We are also incredibly grateful to the Daniels Fund, Aspen Institute’s Project Play Colorado, Colorado Gives Foundation, and all of the organizations and sponsors that have made Colorado Youth Sports Giving Day possible. Through matching funds and incentive pools, they have helped donations go further for nonprofit youth sports organizations across Colorado — helping more kids stay active, build confidence, develop teamwork and experience all that participation in sports can offer.

PSDA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Tuition Assistance Scholarship applications are due by the end of TOMORROW, September 15! ❤️

At PSDA, we know that financial barriers can look different for every family. Maybe you have multiple children who want to dance, you’re navigating a job change or unexpected financial situation, or the rising cost of everyday expenses is simply making it harder to fit dance tuition into the family budget.

If financial assistance would make it easier for your dancer to participate this season, we encourage you to apply. Our Tuition Assistance Scholarship program is designed to help make dance more accessible and affordable for PSDA families experiencing a financial barrier.

Applications are available on the PSDA website. Scroll down and click the “Apply for Scholarship” button to complete the application.

Applications are due by the end of the day on September 15th.

And if you’re unsure whether your particular circumstances warrant applying, we still encourage you to tell us about your situation. Financial need looks different for every family. ❤️

We want to give a very special shoutout to Uncle's Bar & Social Club, specifically Shane Lucero and Geoff Fannon, for supporting Pagosa Springs Dance Academy through their Trivia for a Cause nights this summer!

What makes this partnership especially meaningful to us is that Uncle’s isn’t simply writing checks to local organizations. They have created a fun, ongoing way for the community to gather while intentionally shining a light on nonprofits doing meaningful work right here in Pagosa Springs. We truly appreciate the thoughtfulness that goes into choosing the organizations they support, and we are incredibly honored that PSDA was among them! 👏

The funds raised will go directly toward helping our dancers and supporting the opportunities, training, and experiences we are able to provide for them. Every trivia team, every Wednesday night out, and every person who chose to participate helped make that possible.

We are so grateful to everyone who showed up and played along during our July and August nights. Your support may have looked like a fun night of trivia, but to our studio, it represents an opportunity for our dancers. ❤️

🎉 **WE REACHED OUR $5,000 GOAL!** 🎉

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our PSDA families, friends, and community, we reached our original Colorado Youth Sports Giving Day goal of $5,000 within the first few days of the campaign!

Combined with other fundraising and grant support, these funds will help PSDA:

🩰 **Move forward with our shock-absorbing floor project!** Our fundraising goal for this major studio improvement is now funded, which means we can move into the next stage of ordering materials and planning the installation.

💛 **Add to our scholarship fund** to provide tuition assistance for dancers facing financial barriers.

🎭 **Help cover important performance costs** so we can continue creating meaningful performance opportunities while keeping dance affordable for families.

And we’re not done yet!

Colorado Youth Sports Giving Day continues through **September 15** with funds to supercharge any donation made, so we’re raising our goal to **$6,000!**

# # # OUR NEXT GOAL: REAL BALLET BARRES! 🩰

Our current “ballet barres” are actually wall-mounted handrails that have served us well—but our dedicated ballet dancers deserve equipment designed for their training.

Every additional dollar raised will help us continue improving our studio with new ballet barres and other much-needed upgrades, including shelving and organization for our studio spaces.

We are incredibly grateful for everyone who has helped us reach this point. **We set a $5,000 goal—and you helped us get there. Now let’s see if we can reach $6,000 by September 15!** 💛

A huge THANK YOU to The Forge Gymnastics coaches! 🤸‍♀️💙

Over the summer, six of our Company dancers had opportunities to work with gymnastics coaches at The Forge on acrobatic elements for dance competition season. We’re so grateful for their willingness to welcome our dancers into the gym, understand what they were working toward, and use their gymnastics expertise to help them develop the skills they needed safely and confidently.

Thank you, The Forge, for being a wonderful community partner and for supporting our dancers! 💙
