I saw a post that described three different types of dancers:

1. Just for fun (not interested in growing as a dancer)

2. The middle ground (wants to grow and be challenged, but doesn’t want to compete or improve technique)

3. Competitive dancer (wants to improve technique and compete. Takes dancing seriously).

I think we have all of these dancers at line dance venues (And it can surely complicate the playlist).

As a line dancer I’ve always been the middle ground dancer. I want to learn and dance as many dances I can, but I want to have fun. Perfect technique hasn’t been super important to me, and when I’ve heard people say that line dancers shouldn’t “look at the floor,” my response has always been that I’m not performing, so I’ll dance how I want.

Yet, I think I’m evolving and am starting to become interested in the competitive level.
