Quick note for anyone considering teaching Pilates:
If you've been thinking about it but you're not sure where to start, which program to pick, or whether your current background even qualifies you —
Just call me.

No script. No pitch. Just 15 minutes to think out loud with somebody who's been training instructors since 2007. I'll tell you what I'd recommend (even if it's not us).

5 questions to ask any Pilates teacher training program before you write the check:
1. How many hours of hands-on equipment time will I get?
(Online lectures don't count. Watching videos doesn't count. How many hours will I actually be on the Reformer, Trap Table, Wunda Chair?)
2. Who taught my teachers?
(Pilates is a lineage practice. The closer your school is to Joseph Pilates' direct students, the more you'll inherit.)
3. Will I be NCPT-eligible when I finish?
(If the answer is unclear or "you can take the exam if you want," that's a red flag.)
4. What's the student-to-instructor ratio?
(If it's more than 6:1 in equipment training, you won't get real coaching. You'll get watched.)
5. Where do graduates actually work after?
(Specific names of studios. Specific cities. If they can't name employers, the credential isn't translating.)
If you'd like real answers to these — about our program or any program you're considering — call me. Happy to give you 15 minutes even if our program isn't the right fit.

17 years ago I started Body & Core Pilates Education for one reason:
I was tired of meeting "certified" instructors who couldn't read a body.
They could recite the routine. They could spell out the cues. But the moment a client walked in with a real issue — a low back that wouldn't stop talking, a shoulder that gripped instead of moved — they were lost.
Pilates is not a memory game. It's not a sequence to deliver. It's a practice of seeing.
That's what we teach here. Every weekend, for 15 weekends, until you can walk into a studio and actually help the person in front of you.
If that's the work you want to do, our June 27 program has a couple seats left. Call me directly: 561-775-8416.

Three things we teach our instructor candidates before they ever touch a Reformer:
1. Read the breath first.
If a client can't expand their ribs laterally, no amount of "engage your core" is going to change their movement. The breath tells you what their nervous system is doing.
2. Watch their face during footwork.
If they're gripping their jaw, they're gripping everywhere. The body is honest above the neck — most instructors never look.
3. Trust the equipment, but never the routine.
The Reformer was designed to support the body's intelligence. A routine is just a starting point. A teacher is somebody who can see what THIS body needs today and adjust.
We don't teach choreography. We teach how to look at a person.

A 75-year-old client left this on our page yesterday:
"I am not a trainer, but a longtime participant in Body & Core Pilates classes. Small classes, personalized, with close instruction and direction. The best thing I ever did for my body was to start with this studio many years ago. At 75, it has transformed my ability to be functionally mobile, and so much stronger."
— Carol Pumpian, Body & Core client
