Please join us at 9 a.m. Tuesday, June 16 at Blake Library, 2351 SE Monterey Rd., Stuart, for a joint meeting of the Martin County School Board and Martin County Commissioners. Martin Swims, Inc. will present ideas about re-opening the MCHS pool and new pools in the future.

Drowning is one of the leading causes of accidental death, but it's also one of the most preventable. Whether you're headed to the pool, lake, or beach this season, knowing the right prevention tips can save a life.

Remember S.P.L.A.S.H. — your easy way to remember the layers of protection that keep everyone safer in and around the water:

💧 S — Safety Fencing: Install proper barriers around pools and water areas to prevent unsupervised access.
💧 P — Put Away Toys & Ladders: Remove pool toys and ladders after use so they don't attract children to the water.
💧 L — Life Jackets: Make sure everyone wears a properly fitted life jacket when on or near open water.
💧 A — Adult Watching Always: Designate a dedicated water watcher — eyes on the water, no distractions.
💧 S — Swim Lessons: Enroll children (and adults!) in age-appropriate swim lessons as early as possible.
💧 H — How to Help: Know how to respond in an emergency — learn CPR and basic water rescue techniques.
