Spent my birthday at Jim Brandon Arena in West Palm Beach at the always well run Wellington Classic Dressage show. Our spectacular Hannovarian gelding, Stakkatos Cash, aka Hammy, made his USDF second and third level debut with my friend and business partner Evan Ackerly of Ackerly Equestrian Services in the stirrups. Evan has trained and ridden this horse from a challenging problem to success in Showjumping big fences, children’s Hunter and EQ and now Dressage. This pair was called “Debonair” by the judge and I have to agree! They put in a beautiful test in second level, winning that class with a Bronze Medal qualifying score. A few little errors at third kept us out of the ribbons, but it was a solid test that showed huge progress, potential and heart from both this special horse and his very talented rider. I’m so proud of them both! Although unable to join us today, a nod needs to go to our friend Patti Thompson, who has been instrumental in helping us develop Hammy for the sport of Dressage.

Just a few snapshots from a fun day with Dream Believer Stables in Wellington for a Halloween Obstacle Show. I was the Judge for this fundraising event benefitting their rescue and these riders come to play!!! 13 different obstacles tested their partnership, relaxation, effectiveness of aides, equitation and skill! The competitors were fantastic and the costumes stole the show! Thank you to Andrea Colombino and her whole team for putting on a great event and allowing me to be a part of it.

“A Room with a View” this morning at the beautiful Caloosa Horse Park. I was honored to be the Scribe for the incomparable Patti Thompson of Patti Thompson Dressage as she judged their Dressage Schooling Show. This darling little show was well organized, well run and well attended by a huge variety of lovely horses and riders. Everyone was turned out to perfection and brought their best. Patti is so knowledgeable and I learned a lot simply by sharing the judge’s box with her for a few hours. A personal highlight of the day was the 2nd and 3rd level debut of our spectacular Hannovarian, Stakkatos Cash, ridden and trained by my friend and business partner, Evan Ackerly of Ackerly Equestrian Services. Scored but not placed, Evan rode two beautiful tests with scores in the 60s for both. Thank you to everyone who participated, to the organizers and volunteers and to the flagship sponsor, Harbour Ridge Equine.
