Mindset Shift🧠 ( it’s a long one read it!!!!!)
What You Earn, You Value
A father wanted to teach his 10-year-old son a lesson about hard work.
He told him, “Go out and earn $5.”
The first time, the boy went to his mother. She gave him the $5, and he brought it back to his father. His father took the money and threw it into the fire.
The boy just stood there.
He didn’t try to save it because it had been given to him. He had nothing invested in it.
So his father sent him out again and told him to actually earn the money.
This time, the boy went door-to-door begging people for money until he collected $5.
He brought it home, and once again, his father threw it into the fire.
He didn’t try to save it because he begged for it. He had nothing invested in it.
Then came the third attempt.
This time, the boy found someone who would actually give him a job. He spent the entire day filling sandbags.
He worked. He sweated. He struggled.
At the end of that long day, he hadn’t even made $5.
He earned $1.80.
He came home and gave his father the $1.80 he had worked all day to earn.
His father threw it into the fire.
But this time, the boy went after it.
He tried to pull his money from the fire because suddenly that $1.80 meant something to him.
It wasn’t just money anymore.
It represented his work.
His father finally knew his son understood the lesson.
The Mindset Shift
We value what we earn differently than what we’re simply given or begged for.
When something costs us nothing, it’s easy to take it for granted.
But when you’ve put your time, effort, discipline, sweat, and sacrifice into something, it means more.
And this lesson isn’t really about $5.
It’s about life.
You want strength? Earn it.
You want someone’s trust? Earn it.
You want respect? Earn it.
You want confidence? Earn it.
You want success? Earn it.
Don’t live your life waiting for someone to hand you what you want.
Put in the work.
Because sometimes the $1.80 you earned is worth a hell of a lot more than the $5 you were given.
