What happens when a school creates a space where students truly feel they belong?

At Nellie N. Coffman Middle School, staff and students built the "Fire Room"—complete with Firebirds jerseys, memorabilia, a "Wall of Flame," and leadership messages rooted in hockey and teamwork. Huge credit to the leadership team and Principal Melissa Galataud for making it happen.

Yesterday, we celebrated with a full street hockey activation presented by Stand Together —featuring Berger Foundation Iceplex instructors, a new street hockey set, and a visit from Fuego 🔥 Students also heard powerful lessons on leadership, resilience, and believing in yourself from Firebirds staff.

It's more than hockey—it's confidence, leadership, and belonging in action.
