WA Radio Host Passes Two Days After Final Show. 06/20/2024

I always loved working with Charlye. Our time on the air in the morning was special and she taught me to let life happen when the mic "is hot" and let the experience flow naturally, sometimes the best laughter came with that spontaneity. Rock & Rest in Peace Charlye!

This was my dream when I was working at KHAY...I wanted to have the same group that bought the Watermark to buy KHAY. Place the KHAY studio in the window of the old Bank Building at Main & California. I always wanted to lead people to the "Prize Vault" to claim their prizes! I also wanted to play LOCAL music...anybody remember our neighbor, Johnny Cash? Also I dreamt of the talent that would come thru the doors and sit down and chat and play their latest...I'm sure the folks that owned the Watermark would help with that. KHAY has a chance to rock the West Coast and become a Legend in Radio History. It's a dream I have.

15 Minutes of Fame 11/02/2021

This is the story of how “15 minutes of Fame” began. I have been pitching for months to my boss about this idea of playing local music on the radio and he said “nobody wants to hear that". I came back and said “American Idol”? No response. Well long story short. The guy that I’ve been pitching to for months finally quit and he said “hey I'm leaving” and I said “well if that's the case I'd like to put my show on Friday night”, He retorted, “I don't care I'm leaving”. So I put it on the air and when the new guy came in he was never the wiser...he had thought that it had been on-the-air forever. That's how “15 minutes of Fame” got started, I just took the opportunity to put it on-the-air and we had over sixty episodes, plus we ended with Kevin Costner. It was a huge success and I had a sponsor as well thanks to the Borderline so management backed off. Sometimes it doesn’t pay to ask for permission.
