How Did I Get Here?
I hid a lack of wisdom behind years of accumulated knowledge.
BA, MBA, career, blah, blah, blah…
Sold my passions to buy safety and I got fear at no extra charge.
Who negotiated those terms?
Got pretty far down the path. It just wasn’t my path.
Why does society’s version of success often involve therapy?
Traded an illusion of stability for 2+ years of travel in Asia.
A marked improvement in negotiation skills.
Saw the power of truth in glimpses of awareness,
but don’t take myself too seriously.
Returned to face Western challenges with a revised perspective.
When did busy replace happy as the preferred state of being?
Decided to teach yoga until I got another “real” job.
That was TEN years ago…

Stillness, Grace & Light of Yoga.
Sol + stice derives from a combination of Latin words meaning "sun" + "to stand still." As the days lengthen, the sun rises higher and higher until it seems to stand still in the sky.
Did you know that?
"Sol + stice derives from a combination of Latin words meaning "sun" + "to stand still." As the days lengthen, the sun rises higher and higher until it seems to stand still in the sky.
As a major celestial event, the Summer Solstice results in the longest day and the shortest night of the year. The Northern Hemisphere celebrates in June, but the people on the Southern half of the earth have their longest summer day in December.
Early Celebrations
Awed by the great power of the sun, civilizations have for centuries celebrated the first day of summer otherwise known as the Summer Solstice, Midsummer (see Shakespeare), St. John's Day, or the Wiccan Litha.
The Celts & Slavs celebrated the first day of summer with dancing & bonfires to help increase the sun's energy. The Chinese marked the day by honoring Li, the Chinese Goddess of Light.
Perhaps the most enduring modern ties with Summer Solstice were the Druids' celebration of the day as the "wedding of Heaven and Earth", resulting in the present day belief of a "lucky" wedding in June."

Meet John Kelley:
John has been practicing yoga since 2004. He has had the very good fortune of studying with Rebecca Bara, Kelly McGonigal, Ph.D., Tracy Gulbransen, Manjiri Subhash, and other challenging and inspiring teachers. John seeks to combine several elements into his practices, including asanas, meditation, relaxation, and modest attempts at humor. He believes that yoga can be a great way to prepare for, and to recover from, running and cycling.
