Unfortunately we have some disappointing news. Sadly, Baylands Nature Preserve parkrun will not be able to continue operating.

Ongoing construction in the area means the landowner can’t guarantee a safe and consistent course going forward. We are very grateful to everyone who supported Baylands Nature Preserve parkrun and I before it, Byxbee parkrun.

Although Baylands Nature Preserve parkrun is closing, we are continuing to expand in the Bay Area.

We are very excited to let you know that Sunnyvale Bay Trail parkrun is launching this Saturday, January 17. This new event is just a 10-minute drive from Baylands Nature Preserve, and we are very excited to welcome parkrunners to this beautiful new course!

We also remain committed to bringing parkrun to San Francisco and the wider Bay Area in a way that’s sustainable, safe, and respectful of the communities and landowners who make these events possible.

Thank you for your continued support and participation.

“And now we welcome the new year. Full of things that have never been.” - Rainer Maria Rilke

Very soon and 2025 year will become a part of history. This is a time for joy and happiness, and also a good opportunity to summarize the results of the year.

This year was full of laughs, happiness and also sad moments, which is a part of life.
We met new people from all over the world, made friends, shared joyful moments, celebrated milestones, and also said good bye to our parkrunners friends who moved to different corners of the world but always in our hearts and very welcome.

We said good bye to Byxbee parkrun due to construction in that area and moved to a new place we now call our home parkrun. It is a Baylands Nature preserve parkrun.
Baylands Nature preserve parkrun fantastic inaugural event was on September 20th. During this year Baylands parkrun had 14 events. Not many but it was very valuable time with our parkrunners. During this time we had one Tutu day, Halloween costume event, and even special Thanksgiving event, and a new run director stepped into the role.

Our enthusiastic, full of energy and passion volunteers made parkrun happen every Saturday. Event directors worked hard, and lot of work was done behind the scenes to set up Baylands parkrun. We can't miss to mention a creative medal maker Gillian Newson who created hand-made medals for our milestones celebrations.

We also want to thank a City of Palo Alto for the parkrun opportunity.
We are grateful having precious time with our parkrunners.

See our annual stats.

With all of you we are moving to a New Year with hope for something magnificent, something good happens.
We wish you and your families a fantastic year ahead, full of love, joy, and happiness!

Our projected restart day is January 17th, 2026.
Please check the updates on our socials and website.

We can't wait to see you again!
Happy New Year! 🥳

Mace Ranch parkrun welcomes everyone to join them in Davis! 🤗

Baylands Nature Preserve parkrun cancelled for December 13th

Due to conflicts with two other events being held in the park this Saturday, the 13th, we have been asked to cancel our event for this weekend. The next event for us will be on the 20th, and in addition to the planned Ugly Sweater event, we will also hold the Holiday Cookie Swap that day.

We apologize for this - nobody ever likes to see an event cancelled - but it’s out of our control.

Wrap up for event 13 (12/6/2025)

😶‍🌫️ As has become the norm for us, it was cold with no sun and a determined breeze. 196 finishers and 17 volunteers bravely faced the chill and made for a fun event anyway!

✨️ Scott Patterson hit his 50th volunteer milestone! And he wasn’t done - he then went out and hit his 100th finish milestone! Chewey Bk Lam (who is no volunteer slouch with 33 credits) also hit his 100th finish milestone! David Eelman and David Pal both hit their 50th finish milestone! (We checked and there were three other Davids who did not hit their 50th milestone. Additionally, there was no requirement to be named David to hit a milestone.)

🌍 10 people participated in their first ever parkrun while 15 others participated in their first Baylands Nature Preserve parkrun. Tourists were from Perth in Australia and Mumbai in India. There were 44 new personal bests today - apparently the cold motivated some to finish quickly!

❄️ Cold thing: Look, we know that many of you come from certifiably cold places - a large part of the country is currently ridiculously frigid - but Bay Area cold is special. There is something about the fairly high humidity that makes 44º feel much colder than that (this is California, the land of beaches and deserts - it shouldn’t ever feel this cold!). Then throw in a breeze (strong enough to keep blowing our signs over) and you’ve got some legitimate cold!

🦺 Fun non-parkrun volunteer thing: There are three Palo Alto Baylands volunteer events coming up in December - it would be awesome if you could help with any of them. On the 10th (this coming Wednesday) and 13th, Save the Bay will be planting in that area near the Byxbee start where they have been working on the levee - sign up at https://savesfbay.org/events/. And on the 20th, you can help our rangers down by the boat dock area as they work to beautify it.

Following are some stats from the event, including milestone achievements (both official and unofficial).
