Mystique Ro’s story is built on courage, versatility, and the willingness to chase opportunity in unexpected places.

The daughter of Tamara and Kyu Ro, Ro grew up as the second-oldest of 11 children in Nokesville, Virginia. At Queens University of Charlotte, she competed in track and field events including hurdles, sprints, javelin, and heptathlon, building the speed and power that would later carry her into skeleton.

After being invited to a USA Bobsled/Skeleton rookie camp in 2016, Ro was encouraged to try skeleton — and that push helped launch a history-making career. In 2024, she became the first American athlete in eight years to win a skeleton World Cup race, and in 2025, she became the first American in 12 years to win a world medal in women’s skeleton with silver at the World Championships.

Ro also helped make history in the mixed team skeleton event, winning World Championship gold with Austin Florian ahead of the event’s Olympic debut. Her journey is a reminder that sometimes the right path is the one you never expected — and that legacy can be built by leaning into every new challenge.
