NOW HIRING – Hockey Ops Coordinator: Grow the Game

The Tri-Cities Amateur Hockey Association (TCAHA) is looking for a passionate leader to help grow youth hockey in our community! This role focuses on recruiting and developing new players while creating a fun, welcoming, and development-first experience for families.

Key areas include:
✅ Learn to Play & Try Hockey for Free programs
✅ 6U & 8U Mite development
✅ Goalie Development (“Goalie Lab”)
✅ Tournament operations & player evaluations
✅ Coach mentorship and grassroots growth initiatives

We’re looking for someone with strong hockey knowledge, leadership skills, high energy, and a passion for growing the game at the youth level.

You may have noticed some tarps going up around our space lately… well, there’s a reason for that 👀🏒

Shortly after our move to Pasco last September, we were preparing to hit the go button on the next phase of our expansion — including:

• A brand new expanded skate wall
• New stick racks
• Updated checkout counter
• New wall fixtures
• Our upcoming hockey simulator 👀

Right as we were getting ready to begin renovations, our landlord approached us about an opportunity to allow Three Rivers Soccer to move their offices into part of our space so Tri-City Taps could expand (and yes… if you haven’t had their tacos yet, you’re missing out 🌮).

Because of that opportunity, we decided to temporarily hold off on our own renovation plans while preparations for the building modifications got underway. Even after construction, we’ll still have over 6,000 square feet dedicated to hockey 😊

Since we were in the middle of hockey season at the time, construction was pushed to a mid-May start. Over the next 6–10 weeks, there may be a few temporary closures for HVAC, electrical, and fire/sprinkler work. We’ll always keep everyone updated ahead of time if those interruptions happen.

There will also be one scheduled closure during the messiest phase of construction, timed intentionally with our Annual Summer Break.

My name is Blake Achenbach, I'm a former AAA goalie and three-time TCAHA Goalie of the Year with over six years' experience coaching youth goalies from ages 8-18. A goalie is only as good as their fundamentals, so I specialize in tailoring lessons for skating, positioning, and save mechanics - the foundation of elite goaltending. I encourage goalies to learn why they are doing what they are doing and to have a purpose behind each movement. Goaltending is a mental position as well as a physical one, that's why I also coach goalies on how to handle the pressure, nerves, and emotions of the game. After a recent tournament, one coach told me, "I don't know what you showed him, but he played lights out. Got his first ever shutout in the semifinal and his second in the championship. Thanks man!" Whether your goalie is just starting out or aiming for the next level, every lesson will adapt to their needs, so they see real progress and have fun while doing it.

Dedicated goalie coach with almost 10 years of coaching experience developing elite netminders at the youth and young adult levels. As a passionate goalie coach, I believe the crease demands more than just stopping pucks. It requires preventing goals through smart positioning, quick decision making, and unbreakable confidence. My goal is to create confident, consistent, competitive, and resilient goaltenders who thrive in high pressure situations and elevate their team’s defensive performance.

For so many in our community, this rink is more than just a place to skate — it's where our ice hockey players stay sharp in the off-season, where kids keep their love of the game alive through the summer months, and where a tight-knit group of players have built something truly special together. Roller hockey rinks are already incredibly rare, and replacing this one with something that already exists in abundance around us would be a huge loss.
