As the year wraps up, we want to say thank you to everyone who trains, supports, and shows up consistently. You’re what makes Peak Jiu-Jitsu NY special. We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, and we’re looking forward to another strong year on the mats.

Long over due, but wanted to get Juli her post highlighting her Black Belt debut with M3 🤼‍♀️ No-Gi Pan Ams Title 🥇. At a 3 day tournament, it’s hard to be there the whole time. As a coach, you feel concerned that your presence will be missed but by Grace what I was concerned was a weakness, was thankfully was a strength. As fate would have it, it allowed me to watch her opponents/matches easily which is sometimes hard to do live under the chaos of the event. I saw what I thought was an opportunity in her opponent’s previous match and was able to let her know. I knew the technique would be there sharp when I called for it bc well, I knew she had refined it with her coach years back. I remember working this technique- yes- over a decade ago at his school with the pioneer 🦶🔒 under the watchful eye 👀 of our 1st coach . She also won her first match via ankle lock 🦵 🔒 . I like to think the 1❌ work we did over the years which stems from my coach influenced that effort. Jiu-jitsu is like a tree 🌳. The roots go deep, growing all the way down, and are there behind us as we reach for the light ☀️. Big congrats again to Juli who will probably never see this post 🤣, and the whole team & coaches for helping her prepare. Those who know, know how much you deserve it

We’re coming together to support a local family in need! 🖤 Drop off non-perishable food and essentials at Peak Jiu-Jitsu now through October 31. We’re grateful for everyone who helps us fill the box and make a difference!

Making adjustments. That’s all getting competent at jiu-jitsu … and really anything… is. One at a time, breaking it down, and hopefully enjoying the process. Little deliberate adjustments over time, add up to big changes and meaningful improvement. As a team, we had a good number of last minute drop outs and a lot of members competing at new belts for the first time at No-Gi Pan Ams. I’m sure everyone will be back for more experience and feedback the competition mats provide. Was great to come together as a team to celebrate the wins and learn from the loses. Congratulations to everyone who got out there! Thank you to all the coaches and students who came to support and who come day in and day out to the academy to contribute to the training. Extra congratulations to Juli, for taking M3 gold on her black belt debut! 🥇🥋🤼🤼‍♀️
