Law Enforcement Officers: Train Like Your Life Depends On It… Because It Might.

Most officers qualify with their fi****ms, complete their annual in-service training, and move on. But when was the last time you spent two solid hours working on the skills you’re most likely to use on the street—control tactics, grappling, handcuffing, ground survival, weapon retention, and de-escalation through physical confidence?

Research continues to show that officers with supplemental martial arts training perform better in use-of-force scenarios, demonstrate improved movement and control skills, and make better decisions under stress.

The reality is that many officers receive limited hands-on defensive tactics training after graduating the academy. Some experts have noted that critical use-of-force skills deteriorate rapidly without regular practice.

While there is no official national statistic, many experts estimate that only a small percentage of American law enforcement officers actively pursue martial arts or defensive tactics training on their own after the academy. If that’s true, let’s change that here in Rhode Island.

At United Athletics Family Center, we offer a Law Enforcement Officer Training Class once a week for just $10 per session.

Your badge doesn’t make you prepared. Your training does.

Invest in yourself—even if your department doesn’t fully understand the importance of ongoing use-of-force training. Your partners, your family, and the community you serve deserve an officer who is confident, capable, and prepared for the realities of the job.

Two hours a week can make a difference.

Rhode Island officers: Let’s raise the standard together. 👮‍♂️🥋🇺🇸

Huge congratulations to the Dominguez Brothers 👏

Both of these recruits were part of our very first First Responder Combatives – 10 Week Use of Force Program back in October 2025. They showed up, put the work in, and learned.

Fast forward to today and both have officially graduated from the 2026-1 Rhode Island Municipal Police Training Academy. That’s no accident. That’s preparation meeting opportunity.

They didn’t wait for the academy to figure things out… they came in ready.

“Preparation doesn’t guarantee success—but lack of preparation almost guarantees failure.”

That’s exactly why this program exists! To give people a real foundation before they ever step foot in the academy.

We are Proud of both of you. This is just the beginning. 💪🛡
