🥋 Week 4: Building Confidence Through Attitude!
We are moving into Week 4 of our 8-week Self-Esteem cycle! After focusing on the joy of being yourself, the power of positive words, and taking action, we are now concentrating on the crucial link between Confidence and Attitude.
At the academy, we are teaching our students that confidence isn't just the ability to succeed on the first try—it is the courage to "try again" when things don't go perfectly. We are challenging our students to maintain a positive attitude whenever they face a new, difficult task. By choosing to stay positive, they unlock the mental energy needed to learn, grow, and ultimately master new skills.

5 Ways to Reinforce "Confidence & Attitude" at Home
You can help your student build a "confidence-first" mindset at home with these five actionable steps:
• The "Try Again" Mindset: When your student encounters a frustrating task, remind them of our Week 4 goal: "Confidence to try again." Encourage them to see failure as a temporary step toward success, not a reason to quit.
• The "Positive Response" Challenge: This is a big one! Challenge your student to provide a positive, respectful response the first time you ask them to do something they might not want to do. Remind them that how they respond reflects their level of self-esteem and character.
• Model Positive Self-Talk: When you are faced with a frustrating task (like a broken appliance or a complex project), narrate your positive attitude out loud: "This is tricky, but I have the confidence that I can figure it out if I keep trying."
• Focus on "Not Yet": If your student says "I can't do this," add the word "yet." It shifts their mindset from permanent defeat to a growth-oriented challenge.
• Celebrate the "Bounce Back": When you see your child struggle with a chore or homework, get frustrated, and then decide to try again with a better attitude, celebrate that specifically! Say, "I saw you get frustrated, but you turned your attitude around and got back to work. That is true confidence."

We are so proud of the resilience our students are demonstrating on the mats! Thank you for your continued partnership in helping them build these vital life skills.

🥋 Week 3: Building Self-Esteem Through Action and Leadership!
We are moving into Week 3 of our 8-week Self-Esteem cycle! After focusing on the joy of being yourself and the power of positive language, we are shifting our focus to Impact. This week's core theme is: "Take Action."
At the academy, we are teaching our students that self-esteem isn't just a feeling—it’s a result of what we do. We are moving beyond just talking about our goals and starting to put in the work to accomplish them. We are also practicing the art of "celebrating others." By cheering for our classmates, we create a culture of success where everyone feels encouraged, which in turn boosts our own confidence and self-worth.

5 Ways to Reinforce "Self-Esteem & Leadership" at Home
You can help your student build their self-esteem and lead by example at home with these five actionable steps:
• The "Goal-Getter" Plan: Ask your student to pick one small goal they want to accomplish this week. It could be finishing a book, practicing a specific move, or organizing their room. Help them create a plan and "take action" to complete it.
• Celebrate Wins: Encourage your student to be a cheerleader for their family members. If a sibling reaches a goal or a parent finishes a project, encourage them to offer genuine praise. Building others up is a fantastic way to develop a leader's mindset.
• The "Listen & React" Challenge: We are focusing on being a role model at home by listening and following instructions the first time. Remind your student that reacting immediately shows maturity and respect—two key pillars of high self-esteem.
• Model Proactive Behavior: When you see a task that needs to be done, take action! When your child sees you tackling chores or goals without waiting to be asked, they will learn that being a "doer" is a powerful way to live.
• Acknowledge Their Influence: When you see your child acting as a positive role model for others, point it out! Say, "I saw you listening and helping out right away—that is a true sign of a leader who has high self-esteem."

🥋 Week 2: Building Self-Esteem Through Positive Language!
We are moving into Week 2 of our 8-week Self-Esteem cycle! After focusing on the joy of being yourself and the confidence to try new things, we are now looking at how the words we choose shape our mindset and our relationships. This week’s core message is simple but powerful: "Positive Words Build Self-Esteem."
At the academy, we are teaching our students that their internal and external vocabulary acts as a blueprint for their day. We are challenging them to replace doubt with "I can do it!" and "Yes, I can!" when faced with challenges. We are also practicing how to be "cheerleaders" for one another—using uplifting language to help our teammates succeed during board breaks and drills.

5 Ways to Reinforce "Positive Language" at Home
You can help your student turn their words into tools for building self-esteem with these five actionable steps:
• The "Yes, I Can" Challenge: Encourage your student to face any task—even a tough chore or a difficult homework problem—with the mindset of "I can do it." Remind them that their words are the first step in solving any problem.
• Be a Teammate at Home: Encourage your student to use positive, encouraging words with their siblings or friends. Challenge them to find one positive thing to say to a family member each day to help build their self-esteem, too!
• Practice "Please" and "Thank You": We are emphasizing that kindness builds happiness. Using polite words like "please" and "thank you" creates a positive environment and shows parents that their student is growing into a respectful, thoughtful person.
• Model Positive Talk: Pay attention to your own internal monologue. If you feel frustrated, try saying your challenge out loud, followed by a positive solution. Children learn the power of positive words by watching how you use them when things get difficult.
• Acknowledge the Effort: When you hear your child using positive language, point it out immediately! Say, "I love hearing you say 'I can do it'—that shows me you have the mindset of a true champion."

🥋 New Cycle, New Attitude: Focus on Self-Esteem!
We are thrilled to begin our brand-new 8-week training cycle today! For the next two months, our primary life skill focus is Self-Esteem.
At the academy, we are defining self-esteem as the joy of being yourself. We are starting this cycle by encouraging our students to change their internal narrative—we want them to see themselves as warriors, champions, and leaders. This week, we are diving into our first pillar, Confidence. We are teaching the students that if they believe in their own abilities, they can accomplish any task we put in front of them. Remember: "Believe it to achieve it!"

5 Ways to Reinforce "Self-Esteem & Confidence" at Home
You can help your child cultivate their confidence and embrace new challenges with these five actionable steps:
• The "Try New Things" Challenge: Encourage your student to step outside their comfort zone this week. Whether it’s trying a new food, picking up a new hobby, or attempting a skill they were previously nervous about, the goal is simply to have the confidence to try.
• Celebrate the Effort, Not Just the Success: When your child tries something new, praise their willingness to step up. Say, "I am so proud of you for giving that a shot! Having the courage to try is what being a champion is all about."
• Model a "Can-Do" Attitude: Show your child how you tackle new tasks. When you face something difficult, let them hear you say, "I'm not sure how to do this yet, but I believe I can learn it!" Your perspective on challenges will become their own.
• Positive Affirmations: Help them build their internal view of themselves as a "warrior or leader." Encourage them to state one thing they are proud of or one goal they believe they can achieve each morning.
• Reflect on Past Successes: When they feel hesitant about trying something new, remind them of a time in the past when they were nervous but tried anyway and succeeded. Reminding them of their own "history of success" is a great way to boost their self-esteem.

We are looking forward to a fantastic 8-week journey of building confidence and internal joy. Thank you for your continued support in helping our students become their best selves!

Week 8: The Final Pillar of Respect – Listening!
We have reached the grand finale of our 8-week Respect cycle! Over the last two months, we have explored self-respect, gear care, honesty, confidence, and leadership. This week, we are finishing strong by focusing on one of the most powerful pillars of all: Active Listening.
At the academy, we are teaching our students that listening isn't just about hearing words—it’s about taking action. We are challenging the students all week to "Listen and React Immediately." We’ve even issued a special leadership invitation to those who demonstrate they are truly listening, proving that sharp listening skills lead to great rewards and growth.
________________________________________
5 Ways to Reinforce "Listening" at Home
You can help your student finish this cycle strong by practicing these five listening habits at home:
• The "First Time" Challenge: This week, focus on the rule of reacting the very first time a parent asks. Explain that responding immediately is a high-level way to show respect for your time and your instructions.
• Stop, Look, and Listen: When you are giving an instruction, encourage your student to stop what they are doing, look at you, and listen until you are finished. This builds the habit of being fully present.
• Repeat Back to Confirm: To ensure they truly heard you, ask them to briefly repeat back what you’ve asked them to do. This simple step prevents misunderstandings and shows they are genuinely paying attention.
• Model Attentive Listening: When your student talks to you, demonstrate the same "Listen and React" behavior. Show them that you are listening to their needs and responding with care.
• Celebrate the "Fast Response": When your student reacts to a request right away without hesitation, let them know you noticed! Say, "I really appreciate how you listened and got started right away. That shows a ton of respect and maturity."

We are so incredibly proud of the hard work and dedication our students have shown throughout this entire cycle. Thank you for your continued partnership in building these essential life skills!

Week 7: Building Confidence and Self-Respect!
We have arrived at Week 7 of our 8-week Respect cycle! We have covered so much ground—from taking care of our gear and being honest to earning trust and following the rules. This week, we are focusing on one of the most exciting aspects of character development: Confidence.
At the academy, we are teaching our students that confidence and respect go hand in hand. Standing tall and strong isn't just about looking powerful; it is a way to show respect for yourself. When a student believes in their own abilities—like when they step up to perform a board break—they are demonstrating the kind of self-respect that allows them to shine.
________________________________________
5 Ways to Reinforce "Confidence" at Home
You can help your student build their confidence and show respect to others with these five actionable steps:
• The "Stand Tall" Challenge: Encourage your student to maintain confident posture at home. When they stand tall and make eye contact, remind them that they are practicing self-respect!
• Positive Self-Talk: When your student feels frustrated or doubts themselves, help them reframe their thoughts. Encourage them to say, "I am capable of learning this," rather than "I can't do this."
• The "Lift Others Up" Goal: This week, challenge your student to notice one good thing about their siblings or friends and tell them. Explain that truly confident people don't need to put others down; they use their strength to build others up.
• Model Encouragement: Be the example! When you see your child tackling a challenge, offer words of belief. Your confidence in them helps them build confidence in themselves.
• Acknowledge the Effort: When you see your student acting with kindness or showing courage in a difficult task, praise that specific behavior. Say, "I love how you lifted your sibling up just now—that shows you have the confidence of a true leader."

Week 6: Earning Trust Through Respect!
We have reached Week 6 of our 8-week Respect cycle! After focusing on self-respect, leadership, and helping others, we are diving into one of the most important pillars of any relationship: Trust.
At the academy, we are teaching our students that trust is not given—it is earned through our actions. We are focusing on how Self-Control in the classroom and during sparring creates a safe environment where teammates can rely on one another. By maintaining control, our students show that they respect their partners, which builds a strong foundation of trust that helps everyone improve.
________________________________________
5 Ways to Reinforce "Trust" at Home
You can help your student understand how their actions build or break trust with these five actionable steps:
• The "Truth First" Policy: Emphasize that the fastest way to earn trust is by telling the truth, even when it’s difficult or when they’ve made a mistake. Let them know that their honesty is more important to you than being "perfect."
• Discuss Reliability: Ask your student, "What does it mean to be someone others can rely on?" Help them understand that doing what they say they will do (like finishing chores or homework on time) is a powerful way to earn trust.
• Model Trustworthy Behavior: Show them that you value trust by keeping your promises to them. When you say you will do something, follow through. Seeing you act with integrity will teach them to do the same.
• The Self-Control Connection: Connect their behavior to their relationships. Explain that when they use self-control at home—like staying calm when they are frustrated—it shows you that they are growing and worthy of more responsibility.
• Celebrate Honesty: When your student tells you the truth about something difficult, acknowledge their courage immediately. Say, "I really appreciate you telling me the truth about what happened. It makes it much easier for me to trust you when I know I can count on your honesty."

We are incredibly proud to see our students growing into more trustworthy, responsible leaders every day! Thank you for your support in reinforcing these values at home.
