Moosa Stadium is named after him, he was born in Alipur Patiala India in 1942 to a well established agriculturist Muhammad Buksh. Mr. Buksh’s great grandfather Ali founded the village Alipur.

Moosa was 5 years old when Indo/Pak partition started, his family decided to migrate after the riots. During the attack on the caravan, 5 years Moosa got separated from his family and spent 4 nights alone in the fields about 40 kilometers away from Alipur. Scared and exhausted, he finally emerged from the fields and started walking behind few ladies who took him to the nearby respectable Sardar Jee’s house. He hardly spoke a word until one week passed by. After finding his identity, they named him Dev Singh to protect him from extreme elements. With the time he got mingled with the family as one of their own. They started looking for Moosa’s family and found out that his father was killed during riots but his mother and some of the family members successfully migrated to Pakistan. They enlisted him as lost and found. Finally the time came when the camps were set up to unite lost family members. The trip to this first camp was unsuccessful but the second was a miracle. Moosa, now 7 years old, spotted his mother from far away and ran towards her to grab her legs yelling, crying and declaring to the world. “Aay meri maan aay, aay meri maan aay”. “This is my mother, this is my mother” This was how a reunion happened between a mother and a son after 2 years.

After moving to Pakistan with his mother, Moosa, continued his father’s legacy to build his own name. He was one of top hockey player in his school and college. He graduated from Government College Gujranwala and started using technology to uplift his village. He was the pioneer in agriculture and lead the village to introduce everything first team from experiments to advancement. He unfortunately died in an over turning tractor accident in 1979 at age 37. His personal dealings and care for the community was so deep that his funeral was the 2nd biggest in the city at that time. He left everyone as heartbroken.

His death not only shook his village but the family as well and it felt like there was no life without a father but his upbringing and his words of encouragement gave us strength to fight with the hardships and live his dreams. He may have died but he has lived in ourselves.

Moosa Cricket Stadium was the 1st private ICC ODI stadium in USA with 12 International ODIs held in May-June 2022. There will be many more cricket stadiums built in the coming years but Moosa Stadium will remain as the first built by sons to honor and acknowledge the role of a father in son’s life, it sucks without a father.

This stadium should be a symbol for all those children who lose father at an early age, no matter how difficult the life looks, continue working hard to make your father live in you, darkness does not last forever.

Happy Father’s Day! You are blessed if your father is alive but your responsibilities increases if he is gone. Your dealings and actions represent him, do your part to make him proud.

Start dreaming big, plan to achieve them and most importantly evaluate your actions on daily basis in 5 minutes before going to sleep. Your actions would dictate how realistic your dreams are.
