Who enjoys great storytelling?

The Boston Globe's associate sports editor, Stan Grossfeld, visited Birmingham in February, 2022 and spent a few days hanging out with Boston Red Sox pitcher, Garrett Whitlock.

In the profile story, Mr. Grossfeld shares details about Garrett's time growing up in Georgia, pitching collegiately for UAB, training at Tinsley Performance during the MLB lockout, and how his recovery journey from Tommy John surgery saved his life and helped him grow in both his faith and compassion.

Our goal with Trey is to tap into more length off the tee, along with decreasing the stress on his lower back (most common place of injury with most golfers , including Trey).
. . .
✅Main Goal: Better use of his lower half and create more force through the ground
✅Side goals: Lower stress on the low back and more distance off the tee 🤯
✅We have the around his waist to help promote hip rotation (assistance or resistance).
✅The Valslides are under his lead foot to “FEEL” the foot moving forward, or “toes jamming into the front of his shoes” to promote a more “push-pull” feel rather than strictly a certain force on the ground.

Turn your volume up and listen in on Mark’s comments on the drills transferring into the golf swing and why they are important for Trey.

The old REST, ICE, COMPRESSION, ELEVATION thought process is DEAD.
. . .
Since it’s origin (in a 1978 in a publication entitled “Sports Medicine Book” by Dr. Gabe Mirkin), the R.I.C.E. Method has been the preferred method of treatment for acute musculoskeletal injuries.
. . .
Everybody has heard it… you have an injury, and someone probably jumps in and says… “Hey, put some ice on it. Gotta keep the swelling down.” 🤔
. . .
WRONG
. . .
More and more studies have come out stating that rest does not enhance the recovery process, but instead delays recovery, and may result in further damage to the tissue. 🤯
. . .
Dr. Mirkin actually recanted his original position on the protocol in 2015… yet some people are still using it.
. . .
Instead we NEED blood flow, and we NEED fluid to move through the lymphatic system.
. . .
Instead of stopping blood flow with rest, I’ve, compression, and elevation… you should encourage blood and fluid flow through muscle activation and body movement.
. . .
The muscles must be actively contracted to facilitate the efficient flow of lymph throughout the body. The inadequate functioning of the lymphatic system is the primary contributor to the accumulation of waste products, excess swelling, and the inability to allow for the optimal recovery of damaged tissues.

Moral of the story.. after a muscle injury… MOVE! (Or anything opposite from the R.I.C.E. Method)

Instead…. they keep you lazy, seated on your couch, binge watching movies, playing video games, and weak as a wet paper sack. All while selling you a pill that will fix your health issues which stem from your sedentary lifestyle.

From a spiritual perspective, we will be judged by how we stewarded the gifts we were given and how many people we brought to heaven with us.
