Last year, at my first international track and field competition (at my former home away from home, the Mexican National Training Center where I basically lived as a gymnast), I had the privilege of meeting one of the greatest triple jumpers in history, Willie Banks, a multiple world record holder and Olympian.
This past weekend, at my very first pole vault competition, I was encouraged and cheered on by another legend of the sport, Billy Olson, the first man in history to clear 19 feet in the pole vault, a world record holder and Olympian as well.
What do these two remarkable athletes have in common besides world records and amazing achievements?
Their humility.
Their kindness.
And their genuine love for the sport.
One of the greatest joys of being a Masters athlete is being surrounded by people who pushed their limits while never losing sight of what truly matters: enjoying the journey, supporting others, and giving back to the next generation.
Champions are remembered for what they achieve. Legends are remembered for how they make others feel.
Feeling incredibly grateful, inspired, and lucky to be part of this amazing community. β€οΈππββοΈπ

This week tested me.
There were moments when I wondered how I was going to fit everything in.
A TEDx finalist application deadline.
The Next Top Speaker competition.
A pole vault competition while recovering from a meniscus tear and lingering injuries from a fall last December.
Work. Travel. Life.
And yet, as I sit here waiting to board my flight, I'm reminded of something important:
Sometimes success isn't one big victory.
Sometimes it's a collection of small victories earned by refusing to give up.
β¨ TEDxKew Speaker Finalist β one step closer to a dream I've held for years.
β¨ Next Top Speaker Top 100 β not the Top 10 I hoped for, but valuable experience, growth, and another opportunity to share my message.
β¨ Pole Vault State Champion β despite limited training, injuries, and plenty of reasons not to compete. Earlier this week, I could barely walk. Today, I cleared three heights and began the journey to this year's goal - Nationals.
β¨ Ginger, the stray cat I've been working to gain the trust of, was fed every day this week and is finally beginning to feel safe. A victory that means just as much to me as any medal.
The biggest lesson?
Results don't come from perfect circumstances.
They come from making a decision, continuing when it's hard, and taking the next step anyway.
Now I'm off to Mexico to join Felipe and celebrate his parents' incredible 70th wedding anniversary. What a blessing to witness a love story that has spanned nearly eight decades.
Grateful for every lesson, every challenge, every opportunity, and every small victory along the way.
The journey continues. π©΅ποΈπ
β¨ EXCITING NEWS! β¨ CONGRATULATIONS, COACH NANCY!!!πππ...here is her post....
I am honored and grateful to share that I have advanced to the FINAL ROUND of the TEDxKew speaker selection process in Australia! π¦πΊπ€
Out of hundreds of applications, approximately 50 speakers were selected to move forward, and I am incredibly excited to be one of them.
When I first considered applying, I wasn't sure where the journey would lead. I only knew that I had an idea I felt deeply passionate about sharing.
An idea that challenges a belief many of us carry:
β¨ What if you're not stuck because you're not talented enough?
β¨ What if you're not falling short because you're not good enough?
β¨ What if it's not an identity problem...
β¨ What if it's a practice problem?
The talk explores what I call "The Practice Gap"βthe distance between what we know and what we repeatedly doβand why mastery, growth, and transformation are built through practice, not just knowledge.
The final selection process is still ahead, but today, I am celebrating this milestone and feeling incredibly grateful for everyone who has supported, encouraged, coached, challenged, and believed in me along the way.
No matter what happens next, I am proud that I took the leap. And I invite YOU to take that leap into the unknown, on the other side of that dream you have always had.
Sometimes, the biggest opportunities begin with a simple decision to try.
Onward... β¨
ποΈ Dream Again.
ποΈ Fly Higher.
ποΈ Light the Path.

Five months.
Five long months away from the runway after a serious neck/back injury and a torn meniscus brought my pole vault journey to an unexpected stop.
The funny thing is...I had only been practicing for ONE month before getting injured. π
There were plenty of reasons not to come back.
Fear of reinjury.
Fear of crashing.
Fear of starting over.
But there was one reason that mattered more:
I wasn't finished.
So here I amβtaking small steps, rebuilding patiently, and focusing on mastering the countless little details that make this sport so challenging and so rewarding.
With a competition only two weeks away, I'm nowhere near where I want to be yet. But that's okay.
Progress isn't always about giant leaps.
Sometimes it's about making one courageous decision:
**To begin again.**
The first victory wasn't clearing a bar.
It was deciding to come back despite the fear.
The second victory is keeping the commitment to continue, one practice at a time.
And the reward?
That incredible feeling of sprinting down the runway, planting the pole, and flying through the air.
Absolutely priceless. β¨
Here's to trusting the process, celebrating small wins, and remembering that every comeback starts with a single step forward.
What is the mental and situational gravity holding you back from going after your dream? YOU HAVE THE POWER TO OVERCOME IT and fly!!!
