Aikido is a Japanese martial art developed by Morihei Ueshiba (often referred to by his title 'O Sensei' or 'Great Teacher').

On a purely physical level it is an art involving some throws and joint locks that are derived from Jujitsu and some throws and other techniques derived from Kenjutsu. Aikido focuses not on punching or kicking opponents, but rather on using their own energy to gain control of them or to throw them away from you. We had an awesome time training at Gary Lam Wing Chun in LA. Thank you Sifu for your teaching and patience, thank you so much Simu for your hospitality, and also many thanks to our Wing Chun brothers and sister’s for all your help and generosity. It was a great pleasure meeting and training with many other students from around the world at Gary Lam Wing Chun .

This past weekend we had a wonderful opportunity to participate in a Daito-ryu Aikijujutsu Roppokai with Yamamoto sensei. Thank you to all those who organized the event and NOLA Aikido for hosting . This was very insightful and helpful in understand further aspects of our own art of Aikido.

So much gratitude to Yamamoto Nobuhito Sensei from Roppokai Daito-ryu Aikijujitsu World Headquarters in Tokyo for an amazing weekend seminar in New Orleans. Much gratitude to Jose Lopez Sensei as well as to Tim Soehner Sensei, all the local organizers, and to all the many practitioners who came from all over the world to take part in a weekend of joyful, intense training. So much looking forward to the next time already!

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Steve Baker Sensei will not be able to join us for our February 2024 seminar. However, we are delighted to announce that our seminar will now be conducted by Sensei Joe Cavazos, 5th Dan, and Sensei Weldon Mauney, 5th Dan, who will share insights from their Aikido journey with us.
