Can summer be over now?!
I’m missing eating uncrustables in a puffy on top of a snow covered mountain.
Even though this was only back in May.
It’s too dang hot, I’m too dang tired of sweating every time I go outside.
I repotted 3 plants on Monday - barely an hour of work - and needed to take a shower when I was done.
I’m tired of this grandpa!
If someone could send Florida’s first false fall this direction, that would be great.
Not me over here counting down the days until I go to Park City to run in cooler temps!

Starting over.
I sent this picture to a friend who had mentioned her success with pull ups a couple of days/weeks ago.
I haven’t done a pull up in…a long time.
Back in 2018/2019 I was kipping pull ups enough to compete in CrossFit competitions.
Now I need 3 bungees that hold 75lbs a piece.
At 166lbs you’d think I only need 2.
But I digress, these little arms haven’t been asked to pull me in a long long time.
_____
You have to start somewhere.
So when my accessory work called for pull-ups, I dusted off this kit and said assisted is still a pull-up.
I could have skipped them and found a different movement.
As I start setting my sights on climbing more mountains, I probably need to be all around stronger in case I take a tumble and need to haul myself up.
And we all know I have a habit of tumbling.
_____
As we go through life, we should think less about aesthetics and more about functionality.
As we age, we want to keep muscle mass to support metabolism.
We need to keep our bodies moving.
And for the love of all that’s holy, pick up things heavier than your purse.

Running a 100 miles ✅
Proper fueling ✅
Looking good while doing both ✅✅
_____
The event I still don’t want to talk about yet sent out the official photos.
Well, I actually wasn’t sent the link, I had to get someone to send it to me when I started seeing official photos pop up online.
And she had to do the same thing 😒
_____
I digress.
I think this was heading out for mile 11 (mile 85 overall) Saturday morning. I had been up and running since 0440 that morning and a crustless PB&J was breakfast of champions.
I might or might not have washed it down with a Mountain Dew.
I travel light on loop courses. 5 miles at a time doesn’t require much.
A handheld and some Carb Dope is all a girl needs until she returns to base.
_____
If you need help fueling your next endurance event, I happen to know a girl who is currently accepting clients!

I can’t believe I forgot to write about this!
I ordered a beet and feta salad.
If you saw that and ordered it, you probably have an idea of what you’ll be receiving.
It also contained red cabbage and fancy almonds. Sounds great.
Yall…I got a quarter of a head of shredded red cabbage!!
Oh and then some beets and cheese. SOME.
wtf is this?!
And I will tell you, I did poke around and eat some of this salad before taking a photo.
But damn y’all.
$18 for a beet and feta salad that’s mostly a $2 red cabbage with ZERO protein added.
I can’t with some of these places.
AND they want you to tip!
Here’s a tip - rename this the red cabbage salad with beets and feta.
Also, I had really high hopes for this place but really wasn’t impressed. I’m not naming it but IYKYK.
PS - my flatbread WAS good…but it was either $1 more or less than this salad. Can’t remember. Brian’s food was meh. 3 deviled egg halves were $6 🙄 mocktails weren’t anything to write home about.

Not gonna lie….
The amount I cry for my athletes is embarrassing.
I become so overwhelmed with everything - pride, excitement, accomplishment, energy, success, relief.
Knowing how much hard work they put in to get the job done, I just sob it all out.
Going after a 100 miles requires a LOT of sacrifice.
For Chris, it was three years of it.
Each year he improved. He learned something new.
After falling short again last year, he hired me to coach him.
I had been present for all of his attempts. I’ve watched him fight. I could start to see how his mind was spinning.
So we worked.
If you ask him, he’ll likely say I tried to ☠️ him. But he liked to schedule races on big volume weekends so he got a lot of back to back running.
But in the end, he crossed the finish line with energy! He didn’t look defeated or exhausted.
He looked like someone who was determined.
As a coach I can only do so much. I can lay out the best running, strength, and nutrition strategies for ultras…
BUT I can’t make any one do the work.
My clients do the work. They put in the effort. The reap the benefits.
They cross that finish line looking strong.
I can’t wait to see what Chris accomplishes next. I’m sure it’ll be big and dumb too! And I’ll be just as proud.

There’s a lot I want to say, but I’m not ready.
Actually not sure if I’ll ever type out all the thoughts and emotions running through my mind.
For now, just know the work got done.
My second 100 mile finish is complete and my body doesn’t feel like a mashed bag of buttholes.
I actually feel really good physically.

We can’t always get what we want…
Goal for yesterday was 45-50 miles, coming in with 37.5 in the board (38.8 in the watch)
I took a tumble on the first loop when a rabbit or something decided to run right in front of me as I was bombing down the switch backs.
I didn’t want to kick it so I stutter stepped and down I went.
I took a small break today to take a shower and get a massage - gotta keep this body moving.
But by 9pm the road rash and sunburn were talking to me. So I decided rest was best.
Goal for today is 25 in the morning, take a break to hide from the sun, shower and get a massage and then 15-20 more mile in the evening.
We’ll see how that goes.
I’ve got 3 folks we’re watching with GI issues, so that’s fun, but we’re getting them taken care of.
I’m not mad that I get to coach in some beautiful places!
