🚨 HUGE Second Amendment Win in Texas! 🚨
A federal judge just struck down the federal ban on carrying fi****ms in ordinary post offices. For decades, Americans were told the post office was a “gun-free zone” — not anymore!
The case was brought by two Texas gun owners with support from the Second Amendment Foundation (SAF) and Fi****ms Policy Coalition (FPC). Judge Reed O’Connor ruled that law-abiding citizens can carry fi****ms for self-defense in their local post office, citing history, the Constitution, and the Second Amendment.
⚠️ Limitations / Why it’s not fully universal ... YET
1️⃣ The ruling does not automatically apply statewide — it’s currently binding only in that federal district.
2️⃣ It does not include military or high-security federal post offices.
3️⃣ Law-abiding members of SAF and FPC are explicitly protected under this ruling.
⚖️ Why it matters:
👉 This could set a precedent for other so-called gun-free zones nationwide.
👉 The government will likely appeal, but it's still a step forward!
📌 What do you think? Should post offices ever have been considered gun-free zones? Comment below!

🚨UPDATE #2 – 09/23/2025🚨
Upon further review of § 790.06(12)(a), we have determined that the statute applies only to concealed carry and does not expressly restrict open carry in the sensitive locations previously listed (such as polling places, government meetings, etc.). As a result, the recent court ruling has exposed a gap in Florida law, where open carry is not currently prohibited in some locations traditionally considered off-limits for fi****ms.
It is important to note that prohibitions on carrying fi****ms, concealed or open, based upon separate statutory authority remain in effect for:
-Primary and secondary schools
-Courthouses containing detention facilities
-Airports
-Areas designated by federal law
Additionally, private property owners and businesses still have the right to prohibit open carry on their premises.
There will be a period of transition while the law catches up to the recent court ruling. As a matter of public safety and respect for longstanding norms, individuals are strongly encouraged to exercise their rights with sound judgement and responsibility.
🚨UPDATE🚨
✅ Important Reminders for the Public:
Private property and business owners still have the right to prohibit open carry on their premises and may trespass individuals who do not comply.
✅ Open carry remains prohibited by law in specific locations, including:
Government meetings (e.g., county commission, city
council)
Law enforcement agencies
Courthouses
Polling places
School properties
Jail facilities
Airport passenger terminals
⭐️As always we urge all citizens to exercise their rights with sound judgment, respect, and responsibility.⭐️
Recently, the First District Court of Appeals declared Florida Statute 790.053 (Open Carry Ban) unconstitutional. While it is possible that the State of Florida could appeal this ruling, it seems unlikely. As such, I am instructing my deputies to no longer enforce the open carry ban found in FSS 790.053. -Sheriff Chip W. Simmons
