Being almost a week removed from being home, I have had some time to reflect on the last 4 ½ months. What a journey. I really can’t put into words what I just got to live and experience over the course of the summer. When I sit down and think about it, it’s wild to see what all transpired and worked out for me to even have the opportunity. Saved up, quit my job, and packed everything into my F150, a flatbed trailer, and a U-Haul. Drove across the country to go race full-time and compete with the best of the best in IMCA to better myself and see what I could do. Had no idea how it would go, but it worked out better than I could have imagined.
I proved to myself that I belonged and could do it, showed up to new racetracks almost each and every week against different people, and showed we were able to not only compete, but run up front and win races. Was able to travel to multiple states, run events I’ve wanted to run for years but only could ever watch from home. Chased something I dreamt about as a kid, racing 4–5, sometimes 6 nights a week. For someone like me, at times I thought that would never be achievable. Yet here I am now, having lived and accomplished it.
Along the way, I had more support than I ever could have imagined. I feel like the entire state embraced myself, my mom, and our entire program. I can’t thank you all enough. Everywhere we went we had people excited to see us. People coming up to meet us, welcome us, and have conversations. At times, we went places and had lines of people in our pit. That’s insane to me! Truly incredible to see how much support we have over there.
Seeing all of you cheer in the crowds every week, or coming down to grab merch and support the program means more than you guys know, and you kept us energized to keep going every week. When I say I’m thankful for you guys and grateful for all of the support, I truly mean that. All of you that support us are incredible!
To Chaz and Taylor, thank you for everything this summer. Thank you for opening your house to us, offering anything and any help we could need. Chaz has been a great friend for years. Thank you for the fun times on and off the racetrack this summer. You’re always someone I can lean on to get better. You taught me a lot this season on how to better myself and my racecar, helped lift me up when things weren’t going well at times, and overall were supportive in any way possible. You both made us feel welcome, and I couldn’t have had the success I did without you both.
Thank you to my Mom. She did more behind the scenes than most will know. She doesn’t brag about herself, but I always will. Without her, this trip wouldn’t have been a success or possible at all. Most people may consider your mom going across the country with you, following you around, to be a nightmare. I’m thankful I got to share the adventure with her, and beyond grateful that everyone was supportive of her as well. MomTV became quite known, and some nights she had more fans at the trailer than I did. Pretty damn cool if you ask me.
Brandon Painter, I can never thank you enough for everything you’ve done to help me. You put in a lot of time, money, effort, and homework to send us out there with a piece that could compete. I think we proved you can still get it done the old-school way, doing it ourselves with a one-off piece. You kept my head in the game and supported me as much as you could through phone calls and texts. As always, the success we had wouldn’t be possible without your help buddy.
To all my sponsors and supporters, I cannot thank you all enough. I believe I have the best group of people invested in me, and I am always so very proud to represent you all each and every weekend on the racetrack. To the people that jumped in and helped throughout the year, whether it be an entry fee for the night or gas money here and there, I appreciate you all as well, and it means a lot that you all lent a hand.
Everyone who’s invested in me, you all made this possible. You are the reason I was able to live the dream this year. I will always be grateful that I got the opportunity to do so. Hopefully, it’s not a one-off and we can do it again or something similar!
Thank you all for an unbelievable summer. Certainly was one I’ll never forget!
