An incredible journey has come to a close, and we couldn't be prouder of Jazmin Rios. While today marks the end of the US Marine Corps Junior National Championships, and closes the chapter on her high school wrestling career, it is only the beginning of what she will achieve. Making it to the national stage is a testament to her dedication, and she leaves as a true NATIONAL QUALIFIER, who paved the way for those to come. Thank you, Jaz, for representing Sandwich, especially Sandwich Women’s wrestling with such heart and grit—you’ve left a lasting mark on this program. We are so proud of the wrestler and the person you have become, and look forward to your continued success!💪🧡🖤

Day 2 ready! Jazmin Rios battled tough yesterday but was sent to the consolation bracket. She was in confident spirits though and knocked the nerves out so she is ready to kick some butt today! First match coming at 9am on mat 22. The mentality and perseverance of Sandwich wrestlers like Jazmin are such a great example to our wrestlers on overcoming tough matches and competition and coming back with a great attitude to succeed! Good luck today Jaz we are rooting for you!

That’s a wrap for Sandwich High School Wrestling boys freestyle at the 2026 U.S. Marine Corps Junior Nationals in Fargo ND. During yesterday’s events:
Cooper Corder’s match in the Championship round of 32 he went head to head with the #6 ranked wrestler in the nation. After a dominant first period leading 7-4, he was not able to maintain his lead and was knocked into the consolation side where he fought hard and finished 2W-2L overall in the top 50 of 140 wrestlers in his bracket!
Joshua Kotalik made an outstanding Fargo debut wrestling 5 matches yesterday within four hours with 4 consecutive wins before being eliminated. He went 4W-2L overall in the 16U 170 pound bracket and finished in the top 24 of nearly 100 wrestlers! Time for rest, some good food, and the long drive home to Sandwich. Not for long though, both of these boys are hungrier than ever and the grind never stops!! Congratulations boys, SWC is prouder than ever at all of the hard work and dedication you put in to the greatest sport in the world!

Day 2! Cooper Corder is in the Top 32 out of a massive 140 person bracket for Junior Boys 150 #, with his first match at 9am. Joshua Kotalik had a phenomenal match yesterday afternoon where he came back in the second half from a 9-0 deficit to score a massive 8 points with a challenged takedown in the final seconds, which he unfortunately lost. Amazing to see how much these boys have worked and trained for this and are continuing to adapt and overcome, such a great inspiration for all of our young wrestlers! Day 2 let’s goooooooo!

Cooper Corder finished his first session with 2 wins today! He will continue his path to the podium tomorrow morning! Joshua Kotalik starts at 4pm today!
