This an a LC Smith SxS, 12GA. At one time was a really nice shotgun, but was found in an attic with obvious rust damage. Inside the barrels has a severe rust issue so this will be a wall hanger. Serial number gives us a 1920 year of manufacture, with Damascus steel barrels. It still locks up like a dream, no noticeable play.

So we will disassemble completely (thanks YouTube) and begin the cleaning process. The stocks will be refinished. I prefer leaving some of the 'character' on older gunstocks. It makes me think of the hands that touched it, the many trips into the field, the families this shotgun provided food for their table. Decisions to be made on Cerakote colors soon.
