An irreverent and inclusive bunch of weirdos creatively social drinking/running (or not) in Central IL. A drinking club with a running problem. The hash is a kind of "hare and hounds" game. We often add a theme, because grown-ass adults love to go out in public wearing costumes. One or two people are the hares, and they lay a trail of flour, chalk markings, and/or biodegradable tape for the rest o

What is the Hash House Harriers?
The HHH is humorously known as "A Drinking Club With A Running Problem." It combines running (or walking) with a scavenger hunt, orienteering, and socializing. Sometimes there's a theme involving costumes or additional games or goals.
• The Run (or "Hash") is patterned after the traditional "Hare and Hounds" game.
• The Hares runs ahead and mark a trail using flour, chalk, or other biodegradable items.
• The Hounds (the rest of the group, or Hashers) follow the trail.
• It's Non-Competitive: The trails are designed with false turns and check marks so that faster runners ("Front-Runners") often have to stop to find the true trail, allowing slower runners and walkers to catch up. The goal is camaraderie, not a race.

Post-Run Socializing: The social aspect is the main part of the club.
• The On-In: The trail always ends at a designated spot where refreshments, often including beer, are available.
• The Circle: This is the post-run gathering where participants eat, drink, socialize, and engage in humorous rituals. It often involves:
• Singing funny, irreverent songs (known as Down-Down Songs).
• "Shaming" members for perceived on-trail misbehavior (like short-cutting, having a pristine appearance, or showing competitive spirit) with playful penalties, usually involving "downing" a drink.
• "Virgins" (newcomers) are typically introduced and welcomed into the group.
