Congratulations to Christian Colmanero on graduating from United States Marine Corps Boot Camp today!

Christian's hard work and determination earned him the prestigious Honor Graduate Awardβ€”an honor awarded to only 6 graduates out of a class of 250.

One of my favorite moments came when his drill instructor asked him about the intensity of Marine boot camp. Christian simply replied:

"I've had wrestling practices that were tougher."

While that's probably a testament to just how demanding wrestling can be, it's also a reflection of the mental toughness, discipline, and resilience that Christian developed long before stepping onto the yellow footprints.

We couldn't be prouder of the man you've become and the example you continue to set. Congratulations on this incredible achievement, and thank you for your willingness to serve our country.

On July 4, 1776, ordinary people chose courage over comfort and sacrifice over convenience, creating opportunities that generations have enjoyed ever since.

That same mindset builds great wrestlers.
Champions aren't made on competition day they're built through discipline, sacrifice, and the willingness to do the hard things every single day.

This Independence Day, honor those who fought for our freedom by making the most of the opportunities you've been given.

The numbers tell part of the story.

125 duals wrestled. 1,804 matches competed. 997 matches at team camp. 63-27 combined camp record. 2 Team Camp Championships. 30-0 for Reddot Black.

But the most important things can't be measured by a scoreboard.

They won't show the friendships built during long van rides. The conversations in the dorms. The laughter around camp. The memories made rafting, fishing, competing, and simply spending time together.

They won't show the young wrestler who gained confidence. The teammate who encouraged someone after a tough loss. The leaders who stepped up. The moments when effort and attitude mattered more than the outcome.

This summer wasn't just about wrestling. It was about building a team.

A team that learned to trust each other. A team that learned to sacrifice for each other. A team that learned that adversity is better faced together than alone.

Years from now, many of these wrestlers won't remember every match they won or lost. But they will remember the teammates standing beside them. They will remember the challenges they overcame together. They will remember being part of something bigger than themselves.

Championships are earned on the mat, but culture is built in the moments between matches.

We are proud of what this group accomplished, but we are even more proud of the young men and women they are becoming.

The foundation has been laid. The bonds have been strengthened. The memories will last a lifetime.

Crimson Camp βœ…

πŸ† TEAM CHAMPIONS πŸ†

β€’ Reddot Black: 16-0 β€” Team Champions
β€’ Reddot Red: 6-10 β€” 34th out of 45 teams (Highest B-Team Finish)
β€’ Reddot Women: 7-8 β€” 12th out of 22 teams

While the results are impressive, the true highlights of camp won't show up in the standings. They were found in the effort, attitude, toughness, and character displayed by these young men and women throughout the week.

More importantly, this team has built a bond that will pay dividends long after camp is over. Shared experiences, adversity, laughter, and time together have strengthened the culture and relationships that will help carry us through the season.

We now have 32 hours off with one mission: have fun, enjoy the experience, and continue building those relationships.

Slate Camp starts tomorrow evening!
