Today, on World Drowning Prevention Day, we join communities around the globe in raising awareness about the importance of water safety. Drowning is preventable, and together, we can help save lives.

At the Greater Peoria Community YMCA, water safety isn't just a one-day event—it's our year-round commitment.

This summer, we were proud to host our annual Livingston Legacy Safety Around Water event where 180 children learned essential skills to help them stay safe in and around water. From recognizing water hazards to practicing life-saving techniques, these young participants gained confidence that could make all the difference.

The learning doesn't stop there. Our YMCA Swim Lessons are offered year-round for all ages and skill levels, helping children and adults build confidence, develop strong swimming skills, and stay safer whenever they're in or around water.

Every lesson learned is another step toward preventing drowning and creating safer communities.

🏊 Final YMCA Sharks home swim meet
• Main pool closes at 3:30 PM

📅 Friday
• Private event: Pool closed from 10:00 AM–1:00 PM
• Swim Lessons: 8:25–10:05 AM (as scheduled)
• Final YMCA Sharks summer practice: 8:00–10:00 AM (as scheduled)
• Aquatic Fitness Classes at 10:15 AM and 10:45 AM are cancelled
