2017 SPRING & SUMMER PLAYING CLUB @ CORDOVA GOLF COURSE
Thank you everyone for another great Playing Club season, special thanks to Jim Marta and his crew at Cordova GC. The Blue Moons had a great last couple of weeks of the season and won both the Low Net (-12) and Low Gross (-13) for the season. The Party Of Fore won the birdie championship with 26 for the season. The Ringer championship went to the Golf Go Getters at 24 (-9). The eagle championship went to the Inches From Greatness with 2. Congratulations to our final closest to the hole winner, Mike Barbone. Also charting the birdies and eagles for the season on each hole it revealed that holes #4 & #5 played the toughest with only 2 birdies each.

Cordova Golf Course has offered to give you the $14 rate for the month of August if you want to continue playing on Monday evenings, just mention that you were in the playing club.

MY HISTORY IN THE GOLF BUSINESS and LESSON PRICES

I turned professional in 1977 working at San Jose Muni GC. During that time I shot the course record at the time of 63 (-9). Later that year I accepted a teaching position at Almaden Golf Center, a driving range in south San Jose on Almaden Expressway, teaching there until 1990 when the range closed due to the construction of Hwy 85 through south San Jose. During that time I played in many professional tournaments including the NCPGA Apprentice Championship in 1977, the 1977 and 1978 California Opens, and the 1980 and 1981 Sierra Nevada Opens. In 1990 I started working at the Modesto City Courses (Dryden Park, Muni, and Creekside) until 1992. I moved to Sacramento and started working at Bing Maloney GC as the Head Professional in 1993 until 2004. I became a Class A member of the PGA in 1994. From 2005 through 2006 I worked at Champions Golf Center and Cordova GC. In September of 2006 I started teaching at Mather GC to the present day. I have been teaching the game of golf for over 40 years and have given over 50,000 lessons to all levels of golfers.

1. Be coachable: you are willing to listen, try, and change how you do things in order to improve.
2. Set goals: you have goals and dreams that make you excited to get up and strive to work hard every day.
3. Learn from others: you understand you can learn a lot from others more experienced than you.
4. Use your resources: you utilize all of the tools, education and people available to grow and learn.
5. Plan and prepare: rather than going through the motions, you show up prepared, ready to learn and with a plan of action.
