From reeling in the catch of the day and enjoying delicious meals out, to some friendly competition with backyard games, our amazing residents and staff truly know how to bring the energy. Yum! Yum!! The Chef’s Table Event today was a delicious experience! From our lovely over the top staff servers to the delicious dishes prepared by our Culinary Director Steve and his fellow chefs. It was a great time that we will definitely be repeating monthly!! Who’s ready for the next one?

Today is National Waffle Day! Did you know that Waffles were originated in ancient Greece? They were flat cakes that were cooked between metal plates. Waffles also inspired Nike's first pair of sneakers. Appropriately enough, they were called the Waffle Trainer. Bill Bowerman was watching his wife use their waffle iron one morning in 1971 when he was suddenly struck by the honeycomb shape of the waffle. He realized it would be the perfect shape for the sole of an athletic sneaker. Then, Bowerman actually used a waffle iron to create the first Nike sneaker sole!

Thankful Thursday. We are thankful for our June employee of the month. Congratulations to one of our dietary servers Ambrea. Thank you Ambrea for serving our residents with such kindness and compassion! Residents look forward to meal times and Ambrea adds a side of sunshine each time she assist our residents in the dining room!

Thankful Thursday! Gateway at River City is thankful for our employee of the month for July! We are thankful for our CNA Rosetta for her hardwork, caring and compassion that she exhibits to our residents each and everyday and for going above and beyond and jumping in to help wherever it is needed. Thank you Rosetta!!!!
