Yesterday was another great day out on Beltzville! I was able to jump in the boat with Jamie and his son to dial in his Lowrance electonics and put them on a bunch of fish! The highlight of the day was a 19” smallmouth that was long and thin, weighing in at only 2.75 😳. I have a last minute opening tomorrow, and the 8, 9 (4 hour morning), and the 10th if you want to get out on the water.

If you are looking for a rod that is super sensitive but can also bully a 4+ pound smallmouth the Dobyns 764 Champion Extreme is what you want to go with! I use this for throwing ned rigs, tubes and small swimbaits all the time.

Today I had the pleasure of having Bob and Llyod out in their boat to teach them how dial in and maximize their forward facing sonar. The smallies came to play and it was a very successful day up on Beltzville landing around 20 fish! Fishing shallow with a finesse TRD is a deadly way to catch big smallies shallow. To make the long casts I spool them up with Seaguar 24lb PEX8 braid to a 10lb Tatsu leader on a Dobyns Rods 741 Champion Extreme. It’s super thin which allow you to use heavier pound test but still cast with ease.

Felt great to get back out on Beltzville today! Jeff had come out with me earlier in the summer to get his electronics dialed in his boat and today booked a fishing trip for his birthday. The stripers and hybrids made for a great present I would say! I’m booked the rest of this week but have Sept 1,2,3,8,9,10 open if you’d like to get out.

Right here is why smallmouth are my favorite fish to catch! When they decide they are going to jump there is no stopping them! This one fell for the Z-Man Dropkickerz nose ho**er on a Hayabusa DSR-132 HD hook.
