A few days ago, I decided to go a little experiment. The basic parameters: approx 65% back squats 10 reps without a mask and then again with a cotton fabric mask firmly over nose and mouth.

Using my pulse oximeter, after a 3 set 50 percent warm-up, I measured HR and BOC (blood oxygen content) just before a 65% 10 rep back squat and 15 seconds after the last rep (slides 1 and 2). Then repeated the same parameters with my mask (slides 3 and 4). While my BOC did expectedly go down after each high effort set, with the mask on it actually went up a point (statistically insignificant).

So while wearing a mask may feel restrictive it's really more psychological, you are NOT "going to run out of oxygen" wearing a mask even during effort, assuming you're an otherwise healthy individual. Disinformation on mask dangers is very counterproductive.

COVID shut-downs have changed my personal training approach and created some new opportunities. Behold, my finished mobile gym. All of this I can pack into my Subaru hatchback and with all the weight, it turns into a lowrider. Public parks and home garages, I can bring the gym to you.

I've been playing around with different barbell combos given my limited space and too short ceilings. I did some hang muscle-cleans into front rack reverse lunges.

I had to post this second set instead of the heavier ones; I ended up knocking out the hanging extension cord to the box fan, then a moment later saying hi to my neighbor as he drove away. All this while a cloud of fine sawdust swirled around me. Kinda funny.
