Tango and Spartan congratulating each other for not dying when they had to walk past the blankets on the ground at the start of their trail ride

Heads up riders: this is an extremely special horse that is coming up for lease! Presumida is a 10 year old, 16.1hh PRE mare. “Frida” is incredibly versatile, brave, smart, safe, fun, and talented. She has won in both three-day eventing and working equitation with her amateur-owner. She completed and placed in two beginner novice events this year, with competitive dressage scores and no jumping faults. This month she won the 2026 Region 2 Working Equitation Championships at Level 3 - Novice B. Frida is truly a renaissance lady who thrives with a varied training program. She is talented in the dressage ring, clever over fences, and brave and steady on the trail, both alone and in a group. Available for lease at Woodbridge Farm in Petaluma, CA. Please inquire for more details and video.

A fantastic saddle-fitting education opportunity at Woodbridge!

If you ride, you’ll benefit from this event. Can’t recommend Debbie enough.

It’s a heat lamp kind of morning. But it will be 90 degrees later today, so the fans will be in full force in a few hours 🥶🥵

Variety is the spice of life

There’s an old saying in the horse world: there are no poor surfaces, only poor use of surfaces.

Soft, deep footing builds strength and aerobic fitness. Heart rates on deep sand can run up to 50 percent higher than on firm ground. Firm footing sharpens coordination, proprioception, and hoof health.

Horses that only work on one type of ground tend to hit a wall in their conditioning.

You don’t need perfect footing. You need a little variety, introduced slowly and used with purpose.

Even 20 minutes of hand walking on a driveway a few times a week makes a difference.
